ktmlew
What do you guys use for "general" flushing of a high mileage engine. My personal vehicle is a 99 S-10 4.3 with 170K miles. Radiator popped about three months ago. Replaced and refilled with some kind of pre-mixed "one-size-fits-all" coolant. It has had an occasional anti-freeze oder for several years that I associated with a seeping/plugged heater core. This was a Dexcool vehicle...had to swap the heater hoses a couple times a years to get heat. Finally bit-the-bullet and replaced the heater core yesterday. It was seeping at lower corner. Was shocked at the condition of coolant/cap/radiator considering it is only three months old. Nasty looking crap...smells like blowed-up Chevrolet to me. So...would like to know if anyone has found anything I can dump in the rediator while still running anti-feeeze that will help loosen up any crap in the system. Don't currently have anywhere to flush it but would like to soon...I suppose it's probably gonna be a dump the coolant, fill with water, run, dump & refill half-dozen times with some magic flush? Trying to keep from clogging the new heater core. Suppose I can just disconnect it during the flushing?
