Anybody else having alot of claims kicked back saying, "please review, rarely claimed labour operation:________) 2 that come to mind readily are thermostat repalcement on a 6.4, 8575b1a (2.3). Is thermostat repalcement on a 6.4l all that rare? And on a no start, low icp concern, had a bad air leak, ipr was destroyed from shit going thru it, replaced , no more air leak, only builds 60 psi. Removed valve covers and performed hp pump test, replaced defectice pump. Claim kicked back because labour op for hp pump test is a rarely claimed labour op. So was i suposed to ask it if it was fucked then????? Do they not teach us to test a component before replacing it???? What the fuck????

 

 

Sorry for the rant, I'm getting kid of sick of this shit. All we are trying to do is keep this shit running, and hopefuly save somewhat of a reputation for the s-d trucks.

As a matter of fact, I was discussing this with my service manager yesterday. Apparently t his is Ford's latest tactic to reduce their warranty expenses. It is almost strong arming dealers to reduce claims by saying your claims are higher than the region average so you need to adjust something. He said he was even told TO REDUCE THE HOURS THE TECHNICIAN WAS PAID and resubmit the claim. Fortunately he refuses to do that as he said how much more can they take from you guys? Many claims have to do with their TSB's that pay straight time beyond the normal labor operations. I know I don't get paid excessively on these TSB's, not even close.

 

All I can say is that what comes in the door is not something we can control and the failures that fill our service bays are the sole responsibility of Ford Motor Company for producing a defect-laden product. I say submit the claims and fight them tooth and nail on every one they reject. CALL THEM ON IT! If you are doing your job and the paperwork is correct should you win. It is however up to us to be sure that we are properly diagnosing and repairing these trucks following the guidelines and procedures in the first place.

 

Again, this makes us question whether Ford changed TSB's to help us by covering our time to diagnose and repair properly or to use them as a tool to take more away from us. As for normal repairs and labor operations, it is what it is. You shouldn't be told you can't do that simply because "it is rarely claimed."

 

Yes, you are not the only one getting tired of this crap.

 

And Ford just reported a $1 billion dollar profit last quarter. Do the fucking math.

Yeah - "rarely claimed" has been on most of my claims also.

 

So all these new diesel driveability tests/opcodes they have. They gonna be fuckin' telling us they're RARELY CLAIMED?

 

They're new, so they'd be rarely claimed, I imagine.

No more TSB's for fixing 6.0 driveability concerns, is how that reads. Warranty's making work for themselves to justify their jobs, by the sounds of it.

We are getting alot of "rarely claimed" issues. We are also getting alot of "this repair bill is 156% above the national average". When we questioned the Ford warranty rep about one of them he said to take off the 4 dollar freon charge on the ticket for a bedplate job and it will bring it down to normal. How is 4 dollars 156% above average on a roughly 2,000 dollar repair bill. He also said I shouldn't be charging out freon because I didn't know what I was doing if I couldn't save all the freon and put it back in the truck.

$4 freon charge put it over?

 

I guess I'm fucked then...I charged out a cable tie on a 6.4 radiator/tstat job to tie the bypass hose back to the power steering reservoir.

the saying " s@It runs down hill" makes allot more sense now. What are some of you guys hitting in diesel engine and drivability on your 126's now that their slapping?

Well at least i'm not alone in my misery. The hp oil pump one we just resubmitted and commented reason for test. Havent seen it back again yet..... Hmm, the city here has a job posting for a mechanic... looking more and more tempting every day.

Chris, I recently turned down a job offer with the Toronto Transit Commission... I'm now kicking myself in the ass on a pretty regular basis for turning it down because it only paid 75K.

It seems to me, that under our labour laws you have to consent to being blackflagged time.

 

If you did the job, I don't see why you shouldn't get paid for it, regardless.

I'm pretty sure I've heard that somewhere as well. From what I am aware, once you've been paid for something, they can't take it back... In other words, debits are against the employment standards act in Ontario.

Got charged back an oil cooler on a 6.4. I replaced it when I replace the front cover and they said it was no longer necessary to replace the oil cooler anymore for that concern. No one in my shop knew of that change in repair info. I didn't see an SSM about it.

Had some more kicked back. Apparantly to recondition the turbo on a headgasket job is a rarely claimed labour op, 6051 is a rarely claimed part # (i call bullshit) I wish i could remember the rest. I honestly think some prick at warranty review is just fucking around with us?

6000F or 6000E, I forget which one it was now.

 

I did, however, claim BCE and BCE pinpoint test to change a lightbulb last week, and that went through. I did however check for power and ground, so that counts!

 

.9 to change a bulb. Ching!

 

The first time they bounce that, I'll state that I'll start slamming parts on diesels without diagnosing them, and see how fucking cost effective that is.

Ford told us we could not flag the glow plug diag here in Texas, because we don't need glow plugs in the middle of summer.

 

So, the next diesel I worked on for a MIL light on with glow plug codes. In my story I put " took wild guess and replaced glow plug module".

Next thing you know I'm in the office getting chewed out.
