Keith Browning
We can, and perhaps should discuss this in detail. What I think you NEED to do first is open up the PCED and go to the Injector Interrupt for Enhanced Diagnostics found in the Diagnostic Subroutines Sub tab. The HotLine wants the results of that test.
Brad Clayton
It's a very simple test and I have been doing them since the dawn of the powerstroke way back in '94. Most people don't do them now because the power balance became available with the 6.0l. Just try and do your best to keep the EOT pid at or as close to the temp when you start the test and when you finish the test. If you take a while to do the test, you may have to stop and get the temp back to your target number. Info like this is always good to know. Fordracer
I'm tryingto run the "Injector Interrupt for Enhanced Diagnostics" but my IDS reads MFDES in gr not mg. It reads .25gr at idle but when I use my PDS it reads 16mg. I assume gr is grams and mg is milligrams, shouldn't .25gr be 25mg and not 16mg. How do I change my IDS to read in milligrams instead of grams? I don't know if the PDS will make 9 recordings, I guess I'll try it tomorrow if I can't get the IDS to read mg. jw33
How many injectors are you guys trying to replace, i got approval for 1 injector yesterday and never had any questions like that, sent request in 10 minutes later i had approval
Fordracer
I just looked through pinpoint test P wich I haven't read in a while to see what changes they made and thier are quite a few but I didn't see where they want you to run the "Injector Interrupt for Enhanced Diagnostics". Aaron
FWIW: http://www.metric-conversions.org/weight/grams-to-milligrams.htm 1 gram = 1000mg So .25gr would be 250mg Something ain't right there... Try changing the 'MASS' option in the IDS tab from kilograms to pounds, or vise versa, and see if this has any affect on the concern? Fordracer
One thing I forgot to mention is my PDS is still at version 63 and mty IDS is 64. I wonder if they changed the measurement from mg to gr in the newer version. I'll have to try one of the shops IDS's when I have time. I didn't need to run the test after all since it was ESP warranty and not Factory warranty, I didn't need prior approval.
joshbuys
I'VE SUBMITTED APPROVAL FOR UP TO 3 INJECTORS AND GOT THE GREEN LIGHT IN 10 MINUTES OR LESS, YOU NEED TO KNOW WHICH STEPS TO GO THROUGH AND WHAT INFO THEY WANT WHEN YOU SUBMIT, IF YOU GIVE THEM EVERYTHING UP FRONT, THEN THEY CAN SEE THE WHOLE PICTURE AND MAKE AN 'INFORMED' DECISION. HAD ONE GUY IN THE SHOP SUBMIT AND THEY TOLD HIM TO DO THE BALLOON TEST AND RESUBMIT WITH FINDINGS, I EXPLAINED TO HIM HOW IT WORKED, AND THAT YOU HAVE TO DO THE AERATION CHECK FIRST AND IF THERE'S NO AERATION, THE BALLOON TEST IS NOT NECESSARY - AERATION IS EASY TO CHECK SINCE YOU SHOULD HAVE YOUR FUEL TESTER HOOKED UP ALREADY CHECKING PRESSURE. I DID HAVE AN INSPECTOR LAST WEEK FOR INJECTORS UNDER ESP WARRANTY AT 150,000 MILES. BASICALLY JUST WANTED TO CHECK FOR MODIFICATIONS BEFORE APPROVING - THE TRUCK HAD LOW FUEL PRESSURE 2 MONTHS AGO WHEN I REPLACED THE REGULATOR AND 2 INJECTORS - NOW IT'S BELOW 0 HERE, THERE'S GONNA BE PROBLEMS WITH OTHER INJECTORS!!!! APPROVED 20 MINUTES AFTER INSPECTOR LEFT HERE.
GregH
I had one recently that would misfire under heavy load before the engine was fully warmed up. I updated the calibration and retested, and the misfire remained. Instead of describing in detail the exact circumstances of the misfire, I just gave the prior approval people a streamlined version that would elicit an easy answer... Approval obtained in 15 minutes...
Keith Browning
I just gave the prior approval people a streamlined version that would elicit an easy answer... Unfortunately this is the hand we have been forced to play.
