Ron Paul is a great man and I believe he has what it takes to save this country. I know there's a lot of lies and brain washing going on at fox that's why I said I need to find a nuetral news entity or somthing to thatr efect-posting from my phone. They are out there. Just not on the tv.

You need to watch BBC World News and BBC WN America, then DW (Deutche Welle) TV news and several other non-US sourced English newscasts.

It will prove to be very enlightening.

Debb has had Crohns disease for nearly 40 years... every day is, for her, a reminder that she has Crohns disease...

It can be as simple as entering a building and the first thing you look for is the restroom signs.... Or it can be life altering in ways you never considered...

I've been considering rewriting something I did many years ago (if I can find it, anymore). If you are an avid reader, Debbs story is something you could make it through in a couple or three days.

But that isn't what this thread is about.... and, I can't speak for good ol' Liberal Ontario... but is Aarons back an issue for OHIP or an issue for workers comp? THINK HARD!!!!

For me, universal health care has been there when I needed it... never a worry about how much cash I can find "on hand"... never a worry about "converting" my possessions... never having to check my borrowing power... If the system is inadequate or appears underfunded, it is time to look at the abuses that the system is subject to...

Again, we can't apply simple fixes to complex problems. You can't tell if someone is abusing the system until after the dust settles...

In years gone by, Alberta was on the cutting edge of caring for her citizens... Yeah, it was a tough place to live in some respects, but there used to be a distinct lack of bullshit.

From here.... the story takes on a whole new angle.

Thanks for the vote, Larry... I just think I'm a bit too old fashioned for this "Brave New World".

For the healthcare issue in the US I see it this way: we are already paying for healthcare for everyone. If you are insured, your insuror pays the tab (after the $5000 deductible per person in many cases) at a negotiated rate less than hospital full price.

A very few come in with cash and no insurance and are paying on a payment plan at maybe a little less than HFP. Those with no insurance and nothing for hospital lawyers to apply liens to pay nothing and the federal/state/county governments have some funds the hospital can tap and get a few pennies on the dollar repaid.

Note: The hospital and doctors stay in business.

The result of this is that the insured are already paying for almost all of healthcare.

I do know from personally observed events, not something said by a radio millionaire with no worries but to keep his taxes lower or by a politician playing to his constituents ill-informed wishes, that good hard-working people either pay a premium for insurance that is approaching their federal taxes paid or maybe even is more. The hard-working with no insurance put off going to the doctor and in WAY TOO MANY cases end up with an issue that becomes terminal or at least very much more hard to treat due to it not being treated until it was stopping them from functioning. My personal experience is that my $5000 per person deductibles insurance plus the premiums I pay for two healthy persons ($742 per month) would be way more than I pay in federal income taxes if we were both to need some minor procedures in the same year (i.e., the deductibles being spent and the premiums total 8904+10000).

I hear lots about small businesses being so hard to start due to taxes, a smart accountant can avert some taxes but no one can find a way that I can start a business and not pay high premiums for crap insurance for my household and the persons I would hire.

That is my view and I have not heard any talking head nor print article discuss the "hidden", already being paid costs of healthcare nor the higher costs to the public when an uninsured goes too long with no care and now has EXPENSIVE care borne by taxpayers or the person is written off by hospital and gets no care and dies after expensive tests but no expensive cure.

Think about it.

We spend $4,000-$5000 p/p on healthcare. We are NOW #37 in the world when it comes to quality of life due to healthcare behind Estonia. We are #50 in infant mortality. Cuba, France, Spain, England etc etc pay around $1500-2000 p/p in their universal healthcare system and they focus on prevention. One form of prevention is healthy eating. They ban A LOT of the stuff that is allowed in the US. GMO (genetically modified organisms) basically screwing with foods genetics, MSG (mono-sodium glutamite) flavor enhancer, and Bisphenol A (BPA) is an industrial chemical which is used to harden plastic. This controversial chemical has been linked to breast cancer are all fine and dandy for us to eat per FDA. Those are just 3 of the many. Did you know McDonalds can have up tp 0.2ounces of benzene in their chicken nuggets. 1oz and you'll be very sick, 5oz and its death. (i think those are the figures)

You can trace 90% of cancers, diseases, illness's due to what companies put in our food. Those things are banned outside the US. I eat 100% organic, unprocessed, locally grown produce. I've noticed an insane difference in my life. I don't eat out, I don't eat fast food. I buy grass fed anti-biotic free beef/chicken pork because factory farming is killing us and the environment. Purdue has found a way to Genetically modify chickens to grow in 1/2 the time with no eyes, bigger chicken breasts...but at a cost....because they grow so fast they are pumped with anti-biotics because they will get sick faster...those anti-biotics and steroids go directly to you when you eat their chicken.

People need to really question where their food comes from.

This is whats wrong with the country right here. http://bravenewfilms.org/blog/?p=20619

I applaud your dedication to your choices in food... Many of us aren't going to invest that kind of effort into our eating choices because (get this ) WE SHOULDN'T FUCKING HAVE TO!!!

I try to avoid fried foods (I barbecue in minus holy shit weather)... If I'm going to eat an egg... I'm going to eat the bad part (the yolk) - poached or boiled thank you (but you don't wnat to see one of my "camping" breakfasts - just looking will harden your arteries).

Dietary choices are but a small part of what may or may not drive one to using or abusing a medical care system. Other lifestyle choices are the same...

I smoked too much for over 40 years... and I rarely ever visit the doctor, let alone use emergency care... Last time I went to the emergency ward, it was to get stitches in my foot... I don't think altering my diet would affect that.

OTOH, I see many "careful" eaters visit the doctor and/or the emergency room for every little pang, ping, twinge or full moon.

Surely, there are some whose lifestyle will dictate their use of any health care system. Did you know that there is a whole generation of homosexuals out there giving each other aids? They choose to butt hole each other and millions of dollars are dedicated to AIDS research...

Crohns disease ISN'T a lifestyle choice and research into the disease is dreadfully underfunded... I'm about to get emotional about this so please bear with me...

while we can preach and appear high and mighty about some of our choices, using the health care system is more a matter of what we are given at birth and how our bodies react to daily life.

I see guys that should be long gone... and I miss people we neer expected to lose... Most of them use the health care system as little as possible...

My wife makes up for them... and if you feel that is unfair, I hope you would be willing to go through what she has gone through... or what I have gone through because of it... or what our son has gone through because of it...

Our health care system is abused because there are peole thatv will abuse it...

Would it come as a surprise that part of the reason for the redesigned of SLTs stemmed from people abusing the system?

You can say that the system is flawed... In fact, the truly flawed part is the peope abusing the system with no remorse.

There could be a whole rant here about truth and integrity and working within the existing system.. But it wont change anything...

We have our universal health care... it covers the basics (I talking Alberta). I have additional coverage for perscriptions, dental, optic...

Some of you guys think that health coverage in Canada is free... Somewhere... somehow... someone is going to sign a cheque. We don't build aircraft carriers... we don't build nuclear subs... we don't pretend to be the hall monitors for planet earth.

You can spend a whole bunch of your money in Iraq... or you could spend it at home....

Fighting for peace is alot like fucking for virginity...

You wanna know something F-d up? I have a good friend in pharmaceutical sales (cant tell you which company). He told me that his company did tons of research and they developed a "party pack" for the gays. It's comprised of 3 pills (he wouldnt tell me). If you take these 3 pills, you can have un-protected sex with someone that has AIDS and not contract it. Now that's f'd-up.

Jim, I am inspired by your posts. I've started asking asking questions and it turned me into an informed person. I've actually changed 3 of my friends eating habits in their families lives because they were appalled after watching the movie "FOOD INC" about our food. I just want you guys to start questioning your food.

Here's the thing. When you buy from local farmers, or small markets, you're actually helping the community. Not only do you get insanely fresh produce that you know hasn't been messed with, but you're ensuring a extremely healthy life for you and your family. My sister took high-fructose corn syrup out of my nephews diet (its in everything). He's suppost to be on ridilin etc etc, but he went from insanely hyper to normally active and his teachers are so happy also. I will never ever in my life take a prescription drug after talking to my pharm sales buddy. He will never take the products he sells cuz he knows better.

And jim you'll never have to worry about you food because everything i mentioned is banned in canada if a human can possibly consume it.

Any of you guys ever shop at trader joe's or whole food markets? All the food they sell is organic and the meats are all grain fed and fish not raised in those farms etc. The prices are right-the meats can be a little bit pricy though but not that much. They hand out free coffe and snacks, they sell rolled up fruit snacks for the kids at 50 cents a bar-beats candy and is cheaper. The best part about going shopping there is i take my 6 year old daughter with me and she likes going food shoping now-she actually eats a complete home cooked meal.

Speaking of pills... this will tickle Dwayne....

Speaking of pills... lately, we are being inundated with adds about pills for men (is this the designer product of the decade?) that will add <GIRTH>...

Oh yes... no need for big stack smokey old chipped up monster trucks with gazillion inch lift kits. No sirree, Bob... there be no $70,000 fire breathin', gut wrenchin', bank account drainin' dragons in my driveway....

If I gots a little dick, I can get a three week free supply of bigger wiener - much cheaper than any diesel burnin' truck payment.

So... if they got a pill to take my already stately manhood to a whole new dimension (pun intended) - how come they can't come up with a pill to turn asshole bandits into normal guys?

Now.... my biggest worry, if'n I was your gymnasium kinda guy, would be that I was busy picking up the soap in the shower room and found out that Louie Limpwrist got his own self a free subscription to taller tallywhacker pills...

Hmmm... be kinda nice if we could go back to plastic nertz for the back of our trucks... Safer, anyway.

Homophobic? Me? Oh... I got someone I can introduce you to... He USED to like Elton John tunes...

When a feller gets asked, "Who you gonna please with a little dick like that" the only response needs to be a grin, and a response like "THIS GUY" while pointing at self.

I love whole foods but I only shop there when the farmers markets aren't held. I go to farmers markets first, then i go to whole foods for whatever they have. One thing you have to remember is that Whole Foods is a company that has share-holders. What eventually happens like with every company? They get too big and then they start cutting quality to please wall street. Have you checked out their website for recipes? I've made about 10 of them and they are insane good. Have you noticed their produce? There isn't any insanely huge genetically modded tomatoes/onions etc etc. Their meats are all NORMAL sized because the chickens aren't pumped full of steroids/anti-biotics. I had a friend come from England go to Walmart's supermarket and he kept saying Fruits and vegetables aren't suppost to be that big, hes never seen that in his life. In England 98% of eggs sold are from free-range grass fed chickens. In the US? 98% are stuck in cages and fed corn. (which is what they never eat) The other thing is when you buy and make your own food, that equates to family dinners. But the problem is we live in a society that would rather have someone else do the cooking for convenience. McDonalds was sued in England because the practices that were used to kill animals for their meat. They lost. Court deemed it extremely un-ethical. Anyone know why fast food is way more expensive outside the US? Because they have to use quality meats & vegetables. They can't use meat that's been washed with amonuea 20x to kill bacteria, when if they feed cows grass, there wouldn't be any bacteria.

Let's not even get into the environmental impacts of factory farming. It's worse than all the heavy pollutants in the world.

Watch the movie Food Inc. You will be shocked at what we're eating that's not organic. Changed my life and others around me.
