Keith Browning
Anybody been seeing a lot of the rear suspension members cracking in the middle on these things? We have seen several in the last month or so and two of them completely split while driving. It pulls the tops of the rear tires in against the wheel wells and I am sure it makes a horrendous noise. Ahhhh! Can't you just smell a new safety recall a comin?
BrunoWilimek
We haven't seen that failure...yet, but have seen the front subframes rusting out on 2001 Windstars. The right side lower control arm mounting ears corrode to the point they break off the subframe. Just did the second one. I got a used subframe for the first one that wasn't much better than the original. The second one got a new subframe. Recall? Sounds like a good idea to me. Did you send in a Global Concern Report on each one?
Aaron
We just had one traded in with the RF suspension yanked out of the subframe. She was a nice piece.
cbriggs
I see toyota just recalled a bunch of tundras for excessive frame rusting? Deja vu of 80s toy pickups?
Aaron
And Keith - now that you mention it, our tuneup guy changed a rear suspension section in a wind/freestar (can't remember which) a couple weeks back, It was broken, with no apparent impact damage. It wasn't broken all the way across, but there was only about 2" material holding things together.
