Fredsvt
What's in my bay? First of all, it's a new bay in a new shop. Bruce, Nice shop! Is that a Toyota Sequoia with a blue oval on the grille in the first pic?
Matt Saunoras
All we did were 2 engines and a fuel system and that was enough to send us spiraling down the toilet. Not to mention I'm one lone guy that does trans work every once in a while and we're high in that too
Jeff Clyde
5 6.4 TTC Friendly Buses; Alex and Mike you know the ones; 2 for HPP, a 6.7 for a turbo, 1 with a solid knock down below, and 1 with a dead miss and fuel dripping from the exhaust. I am starting to think that I work for Toronto Transit, and commute back and forth to Kingston every day ! On a more level playing field, 2 trucks for Def pumps, a 6.0 for head gaskets, 2 6.0 long cranks, and a vintage 6.9 that runs rough !!
Brad Clayton
So what are you going to do after lunch?
mchan68
Two 6.7s in on the hook. One that has been gassed up and ran (CHA-CHING!!!!), and one for a P1291 due to cylinder #7 injector return signal shorted to ground, taking out cylinders #1, #4 and #6 with it. An '07 F-150 Harley 5.4L for cam phasers and left/front wheel bearing. An '07 6.0L F-250 Outlaw for head gaskets WARRANTY. Yeah. Hey Jeff, better you than me on the TTC buses . lmorris
6L with a blown EGR cooler and is filled with water. Or should I say ice, block, turbo, pipes, all full of ice. It won't crank either, so I think there may be some ice in one cylinder. Got it plugged in for the night so we shall see what the morning brings. Matt Saunoras
hasn't been anything in my bay since 2pm this afternoon. 3 trucks on the schedule for tomorrow though
cbriggs
09 f-350 harley that used car dept just brought in, needs bed plate seals, front axle seals, track bar b-j, rad and rad hoses, primary belt tensioner, pinion seal, and has a trans leak on top somewhere. Just rolled in a 97 45 foot genie lift with a 2.3l ford industrial motor, hard to start and runs like crap once it is running. Then a friend of mine wants me to fix an oil leak on his 92 case backhoe, turns out the rear main seal is puking oil, doesnt look like fun to get at the rear of the engine. Keith Browning
My dealership is in the process of changing owners... everything is fucked up. But I still have all kinds of shit warranty work stacked up though.
Matt Saunoras
3 trucks I looked at today and none amounted to a damn thing. 2 6.7s, one's getting shift solenoids the other needs a rad and EBP tube. Looked at a 6.4 zf6 for the shifter housing boot being ripped and leaking

I find it much easier and less stressful to use the 6.4L method instead of the WSM for these.
Matt Saunoras
I don't know yet, the rad will be in monday and I haven't looked in the wsm yet. I've got 6.4 rads down to a science so if that's the way to do it, it'll be no problem

I find it much easier and less stressful to use the 6.4L method instead of the WSM for these. What is the 6.4 method? Do you mean leaving the whole fan shroud in place? I have only done 2 primary rads on 6.7 and found if you remove the front bumper you can make less of a mess.
Matt Saunoras
Did that 6.7 rad this morning. You can definitely can make warranty time doing it the 6.4 method. I didn't look too hard at the wsm but I left the fan shroud, secondary bottle, intercooler, batteries, etc all in. Pulled the grille, headlights, core support, secondary rad, condenser and unbolted the shroud Once that was done sold 5.4L manifolds, balljoints, u-joints, and a draglink on a 01 F-250. Then looked at a 05 thats getting a hpop fitting, coolers and the turbo cleaned. oh yeah and I'm breaking in a new tool cart I have another one identical to it but I may or may not have set a car down on it
lmorris
Not what's in my bay but beside it.... Damn CO2 sensor has been going off for about an hour. It's driving me freaking batty. There is no air quality threat, I think the stupid thing is broken.
Matt Saunoras
Well lets see here. This week I have a 4.0 sitting in my bay on a furniture dolly. This is for the explorer that's been outside without an engine for well over a month. That's waiting for my rack to free up which currently contains an 2010 F-150. It's been on my rack since Monday. The torque convertor let go and metal is through the entire trans. That's my first 6R80 teardown, it's getting a box which was ordered on tuesday and hasn't arrived yet. Behind it is an 07 F350. It's getting 5 injectors, coolers, turbo clean, hpop fitting and some dummy plugs. The intake is about carboned shut. I've gotta go in tomorrow to finish it because it only came it at 1pm today and they need it by monday. So I've got 3 of a kind, gas engine, diesel engine and auto trans. I'm starting to feel like they're getting they're moneys worth outta me
dieseldoc
My day started with the truck not starting, an hour later its running. Customer concern lost power and smokes black. I hear a miss. Find number 1 weak and slobber leaking at the exhaust gasket. Truck has 850,000 on it original squirters, and customer want to replace all 6. I pull them and find two coppers leaking( have to replace heads, cant put coppers in). pull the heads and find scratches starting in all 6. Customer opt for complete in-frame. Truck is a long hood 379 peterbilt with N-14. Can we say GRAVY TRAIN!!!!!!!!! we are backed up almost 2 weeks and no sign of slowing, good for christmas cash. Matt Saunoras
11 F-550, low power off accel. It definitely has a low contributing #7 injector and I heard some unusual turbo noise on the roadtest. I'll replace the injector and retest it tomorrow. I know it needs a turbo but I'd like to see if the injector has anything to do with the low power concern first. Not really sure on that one
Matt Saunoras
well the injector and recalibration fixed the low power. Working on getting the turbo out now. There is a lot of oil in the compressor housing and the wheel is starting to make contact oh yeah and another F-150 6R80 getting yanked for a bellhousing leak, there's a TSB for pump replacement. lmorris
Got a few 6L EGR/oil cooler jobs lined up and no parts available............. Waiting on my enhanced short block, hopefully it gets here before I hit Banff the week before christmas. Oh, ya....after next week I won't care what's in my bay because the family is doing a 4 day ski trip to Banff no DEC 20. Gotta love christmas in the mountains. Matt Saunoras
Used 6.4, just traded in, smokes blueish white occassionally on roadtest, no codes, no other symptoms other than it was in regen when it was happening. It's just out of powertrain warranty Still thinking about this one, no oil in the downpipe but I'm thinking the high pressure turbo is out. robsmth41
Hey Matt, before you replace the injector, check the pins on the injector harness. I've seen it on 7 trucks to date. All of them had pin seperation from the connector and gave a contribution code. just saying

Matt Saunoras
6.4 horizontal cooler coolant feed tube was leaking and took out the cooler with it. thermostats broken apart causing the eng not to warm up and a dpf showing overloaded. All customer pay I've upsold 30hrs worth of truck work in the last 2 days. Just finished a ton of work on a 02 350 dump. It's been going steady again, I hope it stays that way update - did my first blowgun regen and it worked great
