kevin phillips
I remember a post on a noise concern from the stc fitting allowing branch tube to rub rear engine cover can't locate it.I have a 05 f-250 with a noise after hard accell and sometimes while pulling uphill coming from cover area for the pump kinda sounds like a creaking noise like a dry bushing but not always there.Any suggestions or anybody seen this from a branch tube rubbing cover.vehicle starts and runs ok with no issues other than the noise.thanks for any advice. GregKneupper
I have seen that twice. It was very difficult to find. I seem to recall a ssm on it at one time but I think it is now gone. Just did one about 2 months ago. Almost sounded like a flywheel coming apart. Both of these vehicles started fine at all times, but once I tore them down the stc fitting just fell apart. Try brake stalling it and during the concern use the ids to adjust your ipr up and down. If the noise changes or goes away at different icp pressures then that is more than likely your problem. sixturbosix
I agree, just had one and it sounded like a broken flex plate. It was in for hard start.STC fitting was very loose and worn.It did it mostly after it was hot and had been driven a long distance. After STC replacment it went away.Must create some type of pulsation at the fitting that causes this. Keith Browning
I too have come across a few trucks doing this... STC fitting rubbing the rear cover as stated. We have even seen a couple of covers crack as a result and I know that a few other members have seen that as well. I also recall the first one being difficult to pin dowm but once you know that sound you don't forget it.
kevin phillips
Thanks guys,I do think that is whats happening. It does require some driving before it starts making the noise.gonna tear it down and see what the fitting looks like. The noise with the chassis ear attached seems to be coming from that area. Keith Browning
The noise with the chassis ear attached seems to be coming from that area. That is how I identified it and again, once you know the sound you remember it.
