joshbuys
ANYBODY KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND THESE, OURS ARE BREAKING, AND NOW ONE OF OUR TOUGHBOOKS NEEDS NEW USB PORTS. GOT TWO GOOD ONES IN THE OTHER, BUT NEED MORE SO WHEN WE GET THE OTHER BACK FROM THE REPAIR SHOP WE CAN PREVENT DAMAGE IN THE FUTURE. Jim Warman
Rotunda is where I think we get them...I keep two spares on hand all the time... I'll try to remember to post the P/N tomorrow at lunch...
joshbuys
I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find them. Convenient that the 2 new ones we had didn't have a part number on the package....just 'USB EXTENSION' and a barcode. Thanks for your help. Bruce Amacker
How are these used? I have 2 IDSs and neither uses this cable. Both of mine use the very long (10'?) USB to VCM cable. If that's just a standard M/F USB extension cable, they can be bought at PC stores.
joshbuys
IT HAS A SCREW IN IT TO LOCK IT INTO THE IDS SO THAT THE MULTIPLE REMOVAL/INSERTION OF THE USB CABLE DOESN'T WEAR OUT THE PORTS ON THE COMPUTER. IN THE SHOP ENVIRONMENT ALOT OF GUYS ARE HARD ON THIS KIND OF EQUIPMENT. ALL THAT I'VE BEEN ABLE TO FIND IS THE 6" EXTENSION CABLES WITHOUT THE SCREW IN PORTION. mrbudge
I believe i-connect supplied them to us here in Canada. We are leasing our toughbook from i-connect.
Keith Browning
There was an SSM on this, the cable is to prevent damage to the Panasonic Tough Book USB ports from the cables being pulled on. As mentioned they have a screw that secures the cable to the tablet.

gasgasman
Don't waste money repairing the Tough Book USB ports. Get one of these. We have had ours for a year now with no issues. joshbuys
Thank you for all your help. I ended up finding those same numbers Mike. Contacted hotline tech support and they led me to the dell website where I found those....pretty cheap to! Everywhere else I looked wanted twice the price for the same part numbers. Jim Warman
I'm back a day late and a dollar short... as usual. Our partsmonger orders the cables from Ford/ i-Connect by description (those little short USB cables appears to be a technical enough description). Like I said, I keep two spares on hand so we should never have to plug anything directly into the USB ports.
