04 Late Build, Eating injectors

Hey guys, got an 04 in the other day, late build. Cust was complaining of lack of power. Checked it out, dead #1 Cyl. Noticed off road fuel in truck, customer admitted to running off road fuel. Replaced #1, re checked power balance, #2 was just dropping a little bit. Told the customer that more injectors are probably going to follow. Sure enough today the truck got towed in. Had a P0284 in it, and #8 was dead on power balance. Warm the truck up a bit and #2 drops off as well. I was out checking FICM voltages (LPWR 14, MPWR 48.5, VPWR 14) and the truck went to shit. I went back into power balance, now 2,4,6,8 were dead.

What have you guys ran into with off road fuel in these trucks? This is the first time I have ran into it, and I'm figuring it has something to do with the injector failures.

Thanks again for all of the help guys,

Brandon

No signs of combustion through bubble test, cust wanted all injectors replaced, I pulled out the left bank and there was no signs of combustion coming past where it should be. Copper rings okay and the same with the injector O rings.

I really hate seeing multiple injectors fail without identifying a root cause.

If there is no combustion bubbles in the fuel, and pressure under full load is normal, I suppose another possibility, though less likely is metal contamination from a failing hp pump. It may be worth pulling the oil filter and looking really carefully for tiny shavings of metal.

Another thought... I had one once that beat me up because the fuel delivery system checked out normally the way the customer brought it in, but when I switched to the other fuel tank, the pressure dropped to 20 due to a kinked line. That one got some SPW injectors, but I'll never forget it.

I would do fuel pressure test and check your filters.Might need a fuel pressure regulator. Also the check valves get dirt and crud in them might not hurt checking them but jeff is right you def want to find root cause or it will just be back for more injectors.I too had one running off road fuel that had multiple injector failures.Your going to get many diffrent thoughts on that. But from what i was told off road doesnt have the same lubricating properties. The root cause of the one i had wasnt the off road fuel though it was combustion getting in the fuel rails.
