GregKneupper Posted December 22, 2009 Share Posted December 22, 2009 I need some help. I need an oil cooler for a 2006 4.5. The parts guy tells me that the basic on it is 6a810. Does any one know what this kit comes with? I ended up damaging the cover that goes on the top of the oil cooler. The cover that is held on with the 8 torx bolts. Does this kit come with that cover? Does any one know the part mumber of the cover I need? The price is expensive which makes me think that it comes with more than just a oil cooler and cover kit. Any help is appreciated. Keith Browning Posted December 22, 2009 Share Posted December 22, 2009 I have never replaced one on a 4.5L but the 6.0L coolers used to come assembled to a new cover. I just finished a 6.4L short block and the new oil cooler I ordered came assembled to a new cover. I think the 6.0L come as cores only to reduce warranty costs due to the sheer number of coolers replaced. Perhaps someone here will know for sure. GregKneupper Posted December 22, 2009 Author Share Posted December 22, 2009 The cover that we use to get with the 6.0 is not the one that I need. If this were a 6.0 it would be the cover that the oil supply line for the turbo goes into. It looks almost the same for a 4.5 but the turbo supply line is blocked off and the eot and oil pressure switches are located on a different part of the oil filter housing.
