Has anyone ever actually had any branch tube failures.I have an 05 in my bay right now will only build up to 400 icp.Standpipe and dummy plug o-rings look ok except for one dummy plug 0-ring has started to get deteriorated, ipr has been replaced now im just down to branch tubes, stc, or pump.Im going after the stc next.Just curious though because the air i hear leaking doesnt sound like its coming from stc it sounds like its coming from down in the valley where the branch tubes sit.

got the stc fitting out and it seems pretty tight.Could it still be a failed part without and signs of damage?

An air test with the cover off would show if the stc fitting is leaking. If it's leaking you will see it even if it's a small leak.

I personally have only seen one branch tube cracked. Not fun at all to replace.

I have had several with the cover with a witness mark from the STC fitting coming apart -- little tweak of the branch tube and back together.

I agree. Aaron and Jim just have a better way of putting my thoughts into words. Sometimes, it's hard to express it in English, as opposed to MY way of expressing it, which is "Ch-English" Posted Image.

tried tweaking the branch tube once, made it 2 miles on the test drive and quit running, so now if there bent they get replaced, dont mind doing them now

You're gonna have a little movement in it on the bench, at least any of the ones I've seen. Any time I've had the HPOP cover off and had any sort of hotline involvement I have been instructed to replace the STC fitting with the updated 1-piece fitting.

Did you pull the standpipes all the way out? Did the lower o-ring look ok where it sits in the branch tube? How about the o-ring sealing the two halves of the standpipes?

Another source of air leak is through the IPR. If the shop is quiet, then you will still hear air through the IPR when it is fully closed. With the cover off, you can feel the air coming out through the hole in the back of the pump, over the gear.

With air pressure on it, IPR jumpered closed, and stick your fingertip over the hole in the back of the pump, then all the air leaks should stop. If they do, and the engine won't build pressure, put a pump on it.

Make sure to remove the red plastic plug from the bottom of the pump prior to assembly...
