Aaron
I have one here exhibiting low base oil pressure, hard start, no start, stalling, lack of power, etc. Found checkball fell out of HPOP. Why is pump replacement necessary? (As per hotline) Can't I just pull the pump off, tap the hole in the pump and put a pipe plug in it? Aaron
I wouldn't see any reason why not, I guess they are in the business of selling parts. My next nightmare, is trying to get the damn exhaust off at the manifolds....i think I have a better chance of growing a nice luscious set of boobs than those bolts coming out. mrbudge
I'm glad I am not the only one who has thought of tapping that hole, but haven't had to yet, they all have been warranty. As far as the hell bolts, the guys here don't even try, they cut them.

GregKneupper
If it was my truck I would tap the hole and plug it. But considering that those pumps do like to fail I would sell one to a customer instead of repairing it.
Aaron
Sold the pump...told customer about my idea. He looks at the new pump and goes... "Well, you best be knockin' that motherfucker (pointing at checkball in new pump) outta there, and putting a pipe plug in it. I ain't worried about warranty -- if it wrecks the pump, that's a risk I'm willin' to take. I'd rather try that and fail, than not try it and end up with the same problem another 4 years down the road." He understands pressure and flow...he's a plumber
