Classroom Training

Well it looks as though we are finally arriving at the start of the classroom training - of course you need to have all of the pre-requisites completed and the 6.7L web based class completed too. My FSE was sin last week and he had just taken the classroom instruction. I was already enrolled however I understand that Ford is being selective about filling the classes, or at least for now. It seems they want to either chose select technicians or more likely ensure every dealer has at least one tech trained as soon as possible. I am in but those who end up on the wait list may be there for a while. It stands to note that completing the pre-requisites and getting signed up quickly will improve your chances of getting in early. Not sure if this applies to the guys in Canada.

By the way a big thank you goes out to the members that informed us of the development of the training and for letting us know the web course was released... days before it was announced. I believe a lot of us here passed the course before it was officially announced the following Monday?

We were having issues up here with STARS not updating when the WBT was done. A lot of people had to get added to the course manually. I had to. I did my WBT on the Friday it came out, and it still does not show on STARS. Perhaps I did the course too early or something... I'm enrolled in the course though.

I believe STARS is experiencing some serious malfunctions. I went to view my course status while logged into My Training and it won't come up. When I passed the 6.7L web based course it did not show in STARS either or it took a few days longer than usual. My manager had to so some calling to get me enrolled and then we learned from our FSE that HE had to manually select me and enroll me for the classroom. Also, when I went to print my certificate there some some computer error codes in place of the course name.

Maybe they will issue a TSB. Posted Image

It took a week for the WBT course completion to appear in my STARS2 history twice. I was able to enroll myself for April 7th, 8th and 9th at the earliest.

I got into the March, 23rd course. I was (impatiently) watching the March, 3rd course filling up waiting for my STARS to update. But, on the bright side, I'm glad to not be in the first course, as I'm sure there will be a few bugs to work out with the course.

Oh there's no doubt. I took the new gas driveability in december. It was the second time Rick had run the course, but the first time it was run in calgary. What a nightmare.

Do you want me to wear it to school? If so, I'm going to need to know the DTS gang sign.

I'd love to go to training but all of the classes for March and April are full in my region. So far there is only one tech going, the "shop foreman", out of 15 or so diesel techs in the fleet department. The SM who does the training scheduling didn't know that class dates were even announced and when I told him there was one opening at the end of March he enrolled his buddy. I hope the foreman knows he can't look at Facebook all day while he is at school like he is doing right now. At least that will keep me out of the mix if the 6.7 launch does not go so well.

According to IDS Tech Tips for V65.11 released today, the 6.7 is now in IDS with new tests for the aftertreatment system. Before today we had to enter an override code into IDS to be able to communicate.

I leave tomorrow for the class in London, really looking forward to having a good look at this. I heard the same about our class... no books yet and possibly no truck either....

That is what sucks about the first few classes - aside from having some wrinkles to iron out you had to take a course that was lacking too many things. I hope you got some value from it. I am off to the course in the morning as well.
