LARRY BRUDZYNSKI
Had enough with the OLD desktop. Went out to Bestbuy and bought a HP Pavilion DV6-1375DX. So far pretty happy with it but it's only been a couple of hours. What do you guys think about this laptop?

LARRY BRUDZYNSKI
Was looking at the Macs but couldn't bring myself to buy one. Just the bad rap from long ago that still sticks in my head.
Keith Browning
It is nice getting a new computer isn't it? Especially for morons like me that wait 9 years. I havent yelled at a computer in over a month!
Bruce Amacker
I looked up the specs on that machine and it's quite a powerhouse! I have had nearly a dozen HP/Compaq laptops and have excellent luck with them. The only thing I question is how new Win 7 is and what you're going to use it for. If it's general MS Office/internet use, you're fine, but most automotive programs aren't even approved on Vista, much less Win7. If you intend (and somehow I doubt this) to run IDS, ISIS, ServiceMaxx, DLB, AutoEnginuity, and more auto diagnostic software, you might want to reverse install Win XP. I love XP Pro and it performs flawlessly for me on 8 PCs at this time. (we keep extra laptops around for teaching software classes, because many times a client will only have 1 or 2 laptops for a class) As for Macs, Mac lovers love them but if you run automotive programs, you're SOL. I know of no automotive diag software that runs on a Mac. Have fun!
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI
Keith, thanks it does feel pretty good but scary too. I made 4 trips to Bestbuy before I finally decided to buy it. I'm still a old school guy and am still feeling lost without my mouse. I almost bought a desktop again. We'll see how it works out. There is a desktop for around the same price. Maybe I'll end up with 2..... Bruce, you are correct I won't be loading any of the software on my laptop. As you have figured out, my service dept is pretty cheap. But still want to work on the 7.3,6.0, and I get a large chill down my spine when I think of a 6.4 coming in the door. I really enjoy being here and helping out when I can. It's just embarrassing when my own shop won't buy the required and desperately needed tools to work on these and the others....... Bruce, I have looked around and check on the new Windows 7. So far it works like XP but better, looks a little different but good. Not the POS Vista program that's for sure.
