Jeff_E
Well guys I just got back from school and I thought I'd give you a heads up on something. Some of the lines on the 6.7 that need to be disconnected for turbo removal ect require the GM style Jiffy-Tite disconnect tools. I had never even heard of them until yesterday but Ford will not be providing them in any ESST kits because they are apparently a common tool available anywhere. I ordered mine from toolsource.com but there are other places to get them. They come in two styles which are pictured below. I ordered the (upper picture) style made by Snyder Manufacturing... They cost a little more, but they look like they can fit into tighter spaces than the lower (Lisle) ones. I'd hate to see any of you get one of these trucks in for service before you even knew which tools you need to buy. Keith, I didn't know whether to put this here or in the tools section so feel free to move it if you like.
Keith Browning
I jotted down a note about these tools in my student workbook. Looks like you did the legwork for me! Thanx for the post. In class we used picks to release the clips. We noted that dropping that clip was probably inevitable. I assume the tool means the clip stays in the fitting reducing the chances for losing it. clint80
i removed the turbo in class today and we used a 5r55 trans line disconnect tool to remove the coolant line. its out of the 2002 esst tool kit part numer 307-441. its only $5.00 from rotunda and worked pretty good. gasgasman
Mac tools has the Jiffy-Tite tools-They raped me for $90 on the Lisle kit. Ford (PTS) has the same kit for $60.
Aaron
Lisle kit for $90?! Holy shit... Is this a new tool? Why so much? Or just capitalizing because there was a memo that went out to all tool dealers saying "Hey guys! The Ford techs are gonna need this!" I have a couple of these from working at a transmission shop, GM uses them for trans cooler lines, you know, the ones touch with the tool, and the clip fucks off to over to "see ya in hell, ya rat bastard". Usually the Lisle stuff is the lowest priced stuff on the truck, shit you can even get it at Princess Auto around here!
gasgasman
I got my money back from MAC on the tools. He wasn't a happy camper.
