robp823
What is the compression spec for a 7.3l Power stroke.
Mikill
I have always been told anything over 400 psi is good for 7.3, 6.0 and 6.4.
Bruce Amacker
There is no "spec" but I agree, over 400 at sea level is good. If you are up a few thousand feet, subtract 10%+ from that. If you have one at 350 and the rest near 400, don't worry about it. If they're all 325 or less, it's bad news. Good Luck!
robp823
Well the one my neighbor just had in the shop the highest reading was 355.The lowest was 270 or sooo.He was just gonna put injectors in it but i convinced him to do a compression test.Thank god.Silly duramax technicians lol. Bruce Amacker
What's your altitude? There are mountains in PA.....
Aaron
Either way...you got a 24% difference between 355 and 270... How many miles/hours on it? And how does it "sound" cranking over with all the glow plugs and injectors in it? What I mean is, does it crank over 'even' or does it speed up and slow down? Do the lower measured compression cylinders have less temperature at the exhaust manifold than the rest?
