mchan68
Okay, am I reading this right? I'm trying to look up a complete 6K682 for an '05 E-350. According to Microcrap, it lists only a 4C3Z-9G489-AARM CHRA assembly available. WTF? Are 6.0L turbos going obsolete already? The VIN for the vehicle in question is 1FTSS34P25HA27124, BTW if that matters.

DwayneGorniak
Oh yaaaaaayyyyy! That's gonna make it just great for competing with the after market. Now we will charge proper labor time to clean up a turbine housing and then rip it apart and find the unison ring is worn and charge for more parts or we may even just quote for it up front and price ourselves out of the market even more. Yaaaaayyyyy! WTF?
Aaron
Last... ~5 turbos I have pulled apart have had the unison ring actuator cam hole worn out from the ring being seized to the the CHRA.
cheldmann
you should be able to just use the complete for the later ones right?
Aaron
There's some differences internally but from what I have seen the later ones will bolt up and work with no issues. I had one a while back that was an 05 and someone had put a MY 04 turbo on it, or something to that effect I don't remember the exact details, but the CHRA specified for the truck wouldn't fit, and a search of teh warranty history showed it had the wrong turbocharger on it, so a CHRA was orderd for the turbo that was ON the truck and all was well.
