So much for ECU security..........

I don't recall hearing anything about ECU security for these trucks. Only a tell-tale DTC.

Ditto... and that is going to be enough to put you, me and most everyone else square between a rock and a hard place... Like many others, I'm not mod "friendly" but we all are forced to be a little mod "tolerant".

I close my eyes and I can see someone... someone from corporate waving something in my face. He's saying "I wont pay this claim until you prove to me that whatever set this DTC didn't cause or otherwise affect the failure...".

I turn around and I see a customer... he buys trucks from us pretty steadily.. so does his brother... and his cousin and his brother-in-law and a lot of his friends... He'd be in a Dodge next week if he figured it would piss us off enough...

Yep - I believe Ford has placed the problem squarely on our shoulders.

Thank God that the 6.0 and the 6.4 have pissed off enough people that the 6.2 should be a good seller.

We were told in class that the PCM will erase itself if a non OEM program is installed and they will have to tow it to the dealer to get it reprogramed and then I assume that's when the code will show up.

Humans built and designed it and humans will work around and find out how to defeat it. A pcm is just a computer with code in it. There are computer savy people all over the world. If you encrypt it someone can hack it. I am not the least bit surprised that this has already been done. This is how these companies make money. They will do whatever to keep it that way.

I am not surprised it happened, I am surprised it happened so fast. As for the PCM erasing itself, thats the first time I have heard of that. I tried to flash a production equilivalent cal in our first truck and it erased but didnt program. Maybe thats what they meant.

Talked to one of the instructors at our training facility in Charlotte N.C. and he said the first truck they were sent was for sale in the asian market and didn't have any of the emission devices in the exhaust from the downpipe back. They called higher ups and ask how they were supposed to teach the course with a truck that didn't have all the devices.Had to send it back and wait for US build.

Defeating something is one thing... hiding the footprints can be something different... For everything else - there is OASIS Quick Start... Using this, I can look everyone in the eye and say "this is what Ford wants to do".

Now, more than ever, you will not be turning a blind eye to that intake.... you will be paying close attention to the exhaust.... Ford hasn't changed anything for the customers - for them it will be "monkey business" as usual.... they have changed the rules for you and me....

Pray that I'm wrong.
