I have a 2002 f350 with a lack of power and mil on, codes p1209 and p1211. Hot idle ipr 11%, icp at 489 psi, WOT under load ipr 65% icp at 400-800 (varies).. ppt directs to replace ipr, changed engine oil and ipr, concern still present... any ideas?? not to familiar with the 7.3, thanks

Low fuel pressure can cause the IPR to max out at 65% to increase the oil pressure to make up for the low fuel pressure. I think that's one of the first things the pinpoint test ask you to check.

DTC's P1209 and P1212 are telling you that the PCM detected ICP did not reach expected pressure for the operating conditions. Greg stated that at WOT under load IPR 65% ICP at 400-800 - which is low. I have been trapped in this circle before and if you are using PP test KE you will replace a lot of parts before you come to the conclusion that you have a hydraulic problem.

You could use the procedures in test 9C in the Hard Start No Start diagnostic procedures to test for oil leaks at the cylinder heads and to dead head the pump but since your IPR is at 11% at idle I suspect that the HPOP is most likely weak and cannot develop pressure at higher RPMs... thus the P1209/P1212 DTC's.

Since you have already eliminated the IPR thanks to the PCED I would use a thinking man's approach and momentarily ground the IPR and monitor ICP. Connect the Break Out Box and ground pin #83. ICP should reach around 4000 PSI. If not I would replace the HPOP and retest.

Holy smokes, Batman- 65% IPR and only 800lbs ICP? Check your ICP voltage at WOT and make sure it agrees with your PSI. 800lbs is about 1.2v, it should be building 3v or more at 65%.

Should you check fuel pressure? Yes, nearly always. Is FP your problem? Very unlikely.

You've got a large HP oil problem, most likely, check your LPOP to make sure the HPOP isn't starving at WOT. I would have also put an IPR in it to rule that out, so it wasn't wasted. Likely your problem is a bad HPOP if it isn't starving on the input side.

Good Luck!
