Mekanik
Anyone else see this on a 6.4L? I have one here that has an overfilled crancase with coolant. I would think that if it were a oil cooler I would have oil in the cooling system just like a 6.0L.
mchan68
Front cover cavitation?
joshbuys
Front cover cavitation? +1, SEEN IT A FEW TIMES!
GregKneupper
Front cover for sure. Seen quite a few of those.
DamageINC
I'm on the front cover panel, with this one, hehe. Might wanna give this one a thorough once-over too though, make sure the EGR coolers are still doing their job, as the EGR cooler failures have a tendency to exacerbate the cavitation that kills the front covers. Yank the water pump and let us know what it looks like in there! Dave
Aaron
Front cover pounded out of it.
rlchv70
Don't rule out the EGR coolers...
Jeff Clyde
have 4 right now for front covers and coolers. don't forget to test your coolers and look at your t-stats
Alex Bruene
Front cover.
Aaron
Look at 'em, fuck it, it's gettin' a cover, it's gettin' stats. Changing those stats is a prick, I'm not chancing it when I'm in that far
Jonathan302
I've seen that too. Remove the water pump and take a look to the front cover.
Mekanik
Thanks guys, I'm sorry it took so long to report back. This past three weeks has been brutal. Hotline actually told me to remove the water pump and inspect the front cover for cavitation. The customer actually has their own 'mechanics' and chose to do this on their own. That's going to be very interesting.
