lraffe1
Has any one herd of or used the oil additive called hotshotsecret. I checked their wed sit hotshotsecret.com and it clams International Truck & Engine has tested it. They also clam it will fix sticking injs 86% of the time. I know many times chemical companies say how great their product is with all these promises and data, but in realty it is a bunch of crap and doesn't work. However it would be nice if there was a product that does work or aleast help in preventing future inj failures.
Keith Browning
Actually it wasn't too long ago we discussed this HERE and there wasn't much to say. I know Ford has never mentioned using it.
Jim Warman
I'm sure that, if this stuff worked that one of the lubricating oil majors (no, not Spamsoil or one of the other small time niche marketers) would be all over it to make their oil "better". I like the "tested by ITEC" blurb... So - ITEC tested it and?????? Moly is the only thing that shows up in an oil analysis, so it says. Meaning the rest of the stuff is already in your motor or not deemed worth testing for. In December of 2008, they posted a couple of videos to You Tube... In one video, some wiener says "ITEC no longer makes the 6.0 for Ford". Excuse me? No Fords with a 6.0? Mike Chan would be happy to hear that (along with about a bajillion other techs). And lastly, why is it that all of these snake oil products invariably offer a money back guarantee? Forgetting to mention that you will spend at least as much as you originally paid to get your refund. Ford no longer uses the 6.0? Muck fe..... mchan68
Mike Chan would be happy to hear that (along with about a bajillion other techs). Ford no longer uses the 6.0? Muck fe..... Incidently, I just had a 2010 E-Series in with all of 200kms. on the clock with a low ICP no-start. That's right a 2010 model year (VIN code 'A') E-Series. Turned out that whoever assembled this particular engine didn't torque the STC fitting to spec which was thankfully very quick to determine. mchan68
But back to the topic at hand, it seems the popular additive to "cure" 6.0L cold start injector stiction issues amongst all the guys from the monkey house forums these days is this stuff called REV-X. I haven't been able to find any information to solidly prove this to be the case though, unless someone else here is aware of something I'm not. dieseldoc
I got my diesel power magazine this week and they mention this particualar additive in the Q&A section. I went to the website to check it out and there seems to be a lot of statements with no proof to back it up. I also remembered us discussing it here a while back. I am pretty sure that if some snake oil was all it took to fix the stiction issue, ford would not have the hundreds of thousands maybe millions of dollars invested into writing software and replacing injectors to fix this pesky issue. Aaron
I fixed an injector sticking issue on an 03 earlier this month. I put 8 injectors in it. Apparently, when the customer came to pick it up the next morning (saturday) he fired it up, and immediately put the pedal right on the floor and held it there. Guess he couldn't do that before. sixturbosix
I can tell you one product not to put in a 6.0L.At least from my experience it failed both times.I had this wise idea to put SEAFOAM additive in to unstick injectors. The stuff says it is ok for diesel application and it works wonders on hydralic lifters in gas engines.I had to replace IPR in both vehicles I used it in due to a no start shortly after driving them.Looked like a freight train drove through the IPR screen on both of them. Aaron
Yeah, but after the IPR replacement, how did it start cold?
