Keith Browning
1- Key On Engine Off - KOEO Check - Test 0.1 2- Key On Engine Running - KOER Check - Test 0.1 3- Diesel Engine Performance - Diagnostic Pin Point Test 0.3 4- Cooling System Pressure Test (8005) - Diagnosis 0.4 5- Thermostat-Cooling System - Diagnosis 0.4 6- Scan Tool Test - Data List Monitoring - Test 0.1 7- Fan Drive Clutch (8A616) - Replace 1.2 Depending on your diagnostic approach you could claim some combination of the above or in an extreme case all of them plus any additional testing as required... but that would be for some weird problem which I am sure you are not involved with since you already know it's the Viscous clutch. I would use 1,2,3,6 & 7 for a straight up fan failure which comes to 1.8 factory time and add 30% or 40% (depending on vehicle age and condition) for customer pay which comes to 2.3 to 2.5 hours. clint80
It all depends on what kind of repair. for just a fan clutch dual alternators shouldnt be an issue, but if there is an extra a/c compressor or lines across the top of the motor I might charge 1.4 to evac and recharge system plus .5 -1.0 to remove the components. I see a lot of shuttle buses with some really akward pulley and belt set-ups. if i am doing something like a front cover gasket the extra time depends on how it is set up. Some bus builders will move the vac pump, have 2 enormous alternators, and a giant a/c compressor in the way. Between 1.0- 3.0hrs extra time is usually fair depending on the circumstance. joshbuys
We get 1.4 diag on any CP diesel work (discounted from normal shop rate - $99.95 diesel diag) and charge 2.0 on f-series.
