Northman
I have an 04 F-150 seems to be leaking from rear of oil pan gasket. I cleaned off pan and ran engine and no leaks present, then test drove and re-inspected finding traces of oil around pan gasket. I have replaced pan gasket on two different occaisions with no luck at stopping the leak. leading me to question source of the leak. in my mind a rear main seal would leak while running even if vehicle is stationary. correct? (BTW, THERE IS NO OIL TRACES NEAR THE HEADGASKET AREA)
mchan68
I had one awhile back, that was misdiagnosed as a rear main seal leak. It turned out to be a cracked block on the lower webbing area. There should be a picture of it in my photopost on this forum if I recall correctly. This was on a newer model year E-Series with a 5.4L 2-valve engine if it helps.
