joshbuys
Truck was built on 6-21-2010 (that was a monday). Came to my door making an awful noise in the front. Upon initial inspection I found the belt shredded - wrapped around the harmonic balancer 3 times and the pulley just above the balancer 3 times....not touching any other pulley's. Checked all the pulley's and found the a/c compressor pulley seized - then I noticed the a/c clutch is not attached to the vehicle. Attempted to turn the compressor by hand (with some pliers) - seized. Removed compressor to check for metal debris....LOTS OF SHINY STUFF!! (this is a TXV system now - no orfice tube) checked oil in compressor to fill new one - NO OIL IN COMPRESSOR.......
Keith Browning
Hmmm, I recall a lot of A/C compressor failures around the 2006 model year. A couple of Super Duties and a LOT of LCF's. All seized. A good number of them were actually towed in as no-starts. When the compressor goes it is common for the clutch and or the pulley bearing to seize locking up the pulley. The drag is enough to make the engine crank slow... and not start.
joshbuys
Yeah...now that you mention that, I do recall some LCF's in my past that had that issue.....I just thought I'd mention this one....it has only 6,325 miles on it!
