Want a good laugh go to the AOL Autos Repair Estimator and start plugging in information for a 6.0L Super Duty, any year. Select whatever maintenance or repair you like and compare the results with what the actual costs are. Cooling system maintenance will make you laugh. The estimate will only cover the cost of the VC-9 and the antifreeze nevermind the 2+ hours of labor. This is another fine example of misleading information the consumer is being handed.

I think I need to block these ads from the DTS site.

I haven't plunged into the site yet... I was busy watching one of the DIY videos. It was all about the right way to wash your car.... The wiener.... sorry, I mean presenter said "fill one bucket with warm water and another bucket with plain water..."

Did you know.... if you lived in Beverly Hills (hey - what do I know about zip codes?), you can get the cabin air filter on your 09 SooperDoodie changed for between $56 and $68?

Asking about the FEAD belt - they didn't ask what motor I had but they did tell me I could pay as little as $23 for the belt.

But it got interesting when I asked about front and rear diff oil changes. The rear cost more than the front... no surprise.... WHOA!!! It was the labour that was different. It don't matter that the rear diff will take 75W140 and a skunk oil compared to some 80W90 for the front.... Nosirree, the parts column is identical for both...

What bothers me... the journalist will be believed and we will be branded charlatans.

Sadly, I am not overly surprised since we've allowed this trade to become a breeding ground for the untrained, the uncaring and the unscrupulous.

I can't speak for K... but that number would barely pay the labour here in God's country.

Okay, so I'm not crazy. I was actually thinking the exact same thing.

Yeah, I was initially thinking that number, if it were $USD, is just covering diag and repair labor if you are doing the job right. I think we are charging in the 22 hour range... Ford FUCKS us at 12 something hours. Let us not forget parts, fluids, turbo parts are usually needed to correct the cause of the head gasket failure...

The last customer pay head gasket repair I performed was over $3600 USD and that was caused by a Banks Six-Gun but the truck still got a turbo recon and a cooling system flush. This was the second head gasket repair for this particular truck. The first one Ford paid for becuse they are weak. They guy just traded it in for an identical 2011 6.7L. We will see if he has trhe balls to use a tuner. Fucking race car drivers. Posted Image

I was just thinking the same thing....just barely enough for labor, usually runs $3500 - $4000 for a proper repair as keith stated!
