Anybody ever watch those quirky detective shows such as Columbo or Monk? If these guys were locked in a room alone with all the clues, they probably would not solve the case. They depend on the human interaction to spark an idea or link clues together.

I feel like one of these guys at work from time to time. A friend of mine called the other day and wanted some advice on buying a 6.0 liter. I asked for the VIN and told him I would run it through to see what history it had. Right out of the gate the truck has injector issues due to negative fuel pressure……interesting.

As it turns out, I was working on a 6.0 with a runs rough cold issue. I checked it out and it was already warm and running fine. I checked codes and had a #5 contribution code. I flashed the PCM, thinking the FICM may be acting up and put the truck out for an overnight cold soak. The next morning the truck started and ran fine and FICM power never dropped below 48.5 volts. I was ready to punt it, but the night before; I ran my friends OASIS and remembered the relationship between low fuel pressure and injector failures.

So back in the shop with the truck to install a gage and low and behold 30 psi is all it could muster.

It never hurts to bounce ideas off others no matter what their level of knowledge is. You never know when they might just get you out of a jam.

Brad,That statement is so true.

How many times have you figured out the problem by simply telling someone else. Its wierd how the mind works.

I'm glad to hear that I am not along.
