GregH
One of my coworkers has an inoperative SYNC module on a brand new vehicle. Went through some testing, found that the FICM is bad. Found this out for sure by swapping in a known good one off the lot. Ordered a new one Went to install the new one and download as-built from Ford. Ford did not have a listing for it, so he clicked on the tab that says "If your module is not listed here.." While waiting, the vehicle was turned on and the new module was installed. This screen popped up: He clicked on "Start wireless provisioning" and the screen blanked for 30 minutes and came back to this... I didn't know that the factory loads some modules wirelessly... Keith Browning
Yeah, the wireless connection is for the factory, I forget where I saw that - that web based course if I recall.

I've seen that screen too, on Dec 23rd. I put a new APIM in a 2011 Edge and had to program it. I used the IDS and had to go through inford and sevice pubs/sync etc. and use a USB chip and hook the IDS to the USB post etc. That screen stays there even after the key is turned off and the doors are opened. Too bad we couldn't just program it using that screen. It would cut out a lot of hoopla.
Mekanik
I had the same exact concern, and the cause was Ford's server being down. Try it again and see what happens. I do almost all of the SYNC and My Touch in our shop and it can be a real pain in the ass. Also, follow the procedure with your IDS to make sure it is set up properly for SYNC programming. It will take 30-40 minutes the first time you do it, but it's worth it.
jimmy57
Some days you can't help but wonder if the guys who give their lives to developing those cool apps for iPhones, iPods, and iPads could get some of this manufacturer specific stuff ironed out..... At least get that Talkin' Tom cat on the SYNC screen where you could push and button and have him fart and look around!
