Wow. They rebuild 7.3L IDMs, 6.0L FICMs and post-2004 Mustang instrument clusters as well as other very manufacturer specific components. Very interesting indeed.

Our shop used to get the odd retail truck for a ficm but now there are so many aftermarket options out there. I think alliant power sells one that is already programed. I was just on alliant powers web site and the have a link to DTS for checking for air in the fuel. The link is on the second page

Glad to see they finally learned their lesson by not directly stealing my pictures or duplicating my articles and publishing them in their bulletins. The link is perfectly acceptable.

Good find Jim and thank you for posting it. This link must be added to the Diesel Mentor Directory!

I found IDM's for under $200 USD http://www.autocomputerexchange.com/Makes/Ford/3

  • 4 weeks later...

Over the years I have acquired about a dozen FICMs with unknown backgrounds. Some of these are brand new ex-IH units that look identical to 6.0 FICMs but I was not able to program them when installed on a 6.0 Ford. I called these guys located in SC, to ask them how they test the units. The two guys I spoke with told me they are a board repair facility only and have no ability to program, check programming, or actually test the units. They did offer me $50 each after inspection, though.

I have been fixing these for a while. I have not had any that required a reprogram after resoldering the resistors. Plug them in and run them. I see a bunch of shops on ebay doing this now, some with supposed upgrades to the voltage regulators to bump them up to 52 or 58 volts. I doubt any of the companies plug them into a truck, run them and monitor the voltages.
