Jim Warman
frightful.. and a fire would be delightful... Well, we've had a lot of snow this season... lots more than we would usually have and the news, for a few days, was burgeoning with collapse roof horror stories. The "carpenter" I hired to steer me correctly during the framing portion of my reno, left me with a roof that isn't quite up to code (and they call techs idiots... ). Last night the roof (bear in mind nearly all the snow has since melted off the roof) was popping and snapping like a bowl of popular breakfast cereal. Little wonder, when I woke up this AM to find the thermometer firmly stuck at -30C (that's -17F for you heathens). Just a few short days ago, we were basking in the tropics with +11C on one sunny day (nearly 52) and a few days before that -26C (once again, that be -15F). The 5 day forecast is calling for +4C come Friday. There is a local saying "If you don't like the weather in Slave Lake, wait five minutes". But this is getting redonculous. FWIW, a "normal" winter in Gods country will include at least one straight week where the temp doesn't get above -30C. What makes this so good is that this is usually cold enough so it wont snow. Now... you southern types - go mow your lawn..
Keith Browning
Can't mow my lawn. It's under 2.5 feet of snow. Now for New Jersey this winter is a good one in my opinion as I like snow but there are a lot of folks that had enough after the Christmas weekend blizzard. We have had a storm every week since the holidays with another due mid week. This time mixed precipitation is forecast. My mailbox is below snow level so if we get mostly snow the roads are going to get a bit narrower unless the plows hit 50 while pushing snow! I am thinking Brad has been hit much harder too. Brad Clayton
This is all natural snow at the top of the resort I work at.
Bruce Amacker
About 75 and sunny, I went for a nice bike ride yesterday down to the boat launch park and watched the sun set. Forecast for the next few days is near 80. I hear they're getting a lot of snow up north......
mrbudge
At least snow can be moved. Wait until it all turns to water and we are doing our best beaver impersonation with sandbags to keep it out of our basements. But alas, I like to look at the bright side. We now have lots of water to make electricity with and sell to our southern neighbors so they can charge their electric cars.
Fredsvt
I have 5 feet of snow in most parts of my yard. Got a little melting in the past couple of days. Last weeks "minor" accumulation turned into 20 inches in 4 hours. I just can't wait for the "minor" ice accumulation over the next 2 days we're supposed to get. I can't sandbag the water table. I'll have the sumps full as soon as it melts and the ground thaws. Then I'll end up having to shop vac the basement floors again.
Brad Clayton
Ah, we're still splitting atoms in Vermont to keep the lights a glowing.
