jbarnett31
I've got a 05 dodge cummins, I just replaced the hp fuel pump for a no start concern. It now starts and runs fine but dies when I accelerate. This is my first cummins and was wondering if anyone knows how to bleed the air from the fuel system.,
dieseldoc
Have you checked fuel pressure and volume? The procedure is to cycle the key several times to bleed the system. If it starts and runs fine the system should be bled out. It sounds as though it is not getting enough fuel under acceleration.
joshbuys
Have you checked fuel pressure and volume? Should be 15 psi or better on the low side - lift pumps are common failures on these.
cbriggs
Quote: lift pumps are common failures on these Agreed, which is probably what wiped the hp pump out. Aftermarket has alot of good lift pump solutions for these.
dieseldoc
They (Low pressure fuel pumps)most definitely are a high failure rate item. I have a buddy with an 04' that has 65,000 miles and has put two lift pumps in it. He has gone with a FASS pump from our local pump shop and has been working great since.
