Monumental Sales Screw-Ups

I'm bored and I could use a good laugh these days. Well guys, this should give you a good one. Back in the day when I used to work at a Ford truck dealer, the sales department ordered up a fleet of about two hundred E-450s with a 5.4L for Purolator Courier. However, someone forgot to tick off the box WITHOUT A/C. Soooooo, in arrived a fleet of E-450s equipped with A/C that had to PDI, AND remove all A/C components (except the evaporator), and install the non-A/C spec drive belts, tensioners and control heads. By the time all was said and done, there was a surplus of two hundred new A/C condensors, compressors, lines, control heads, belts and tensioners sitting in the back of the parts department. Fair enough, at least the end result was that the customer ended up with the vehicles they wanted/needed, albeit at a bit of a loss to the sales department now having to pay us techs the labour to remove all A/C components that was over and above that of the PDI itself.

 

Fast forward to 2011. Our dealer has a contract with our local parking control authority. An order was placed for about a hundred 2012 White Ford Focuses. In arrived twenty of them yesterday, equipped with MANUAL transmissions. That said, if you know anyone who is looking for a stickshift Focus, send them my way. Oh and they come in any colour you want, as long as it's white.
