Keith Browning
This is a truck I replaced the main FEAD belt tensioner and belt on a couple of weeks ago. Trucks shows up today with no power assist for braking or the steering. I only had time for a quick inspection but all parts appear in-tact and the belt is fine. Then I noticed the large fluid supply line that goes from the reservoir to the pump was collapsed with the truck running. I wonder what I am going to find. joshbuys
Does it "suck" the pedal to the floor when pressing the pedal? I've seen this a couple times with a bad hydro-boost, it'll also wipe out a new pump in a hurry! Never noticed the collapsed supply line to the pump though. The one's I've seen were older, 7.3's and early 6.0's.
Keith Browning
No, you get nothing from the systems. A rock hard brake pedal and a Pop-eye steering wheel. I am thinking the only thing it has to be is a blockage in the reservoir at the supply fitting but I cant imagine what.

DieselD
check the lines at the hydro(the ones you pop off for cab removal) I had one similar came in after someone else pulled the cab. The lines where installed backwards causing all kinds of wacky issues.
lmorris
I put one back together that the other tech took apart, I didn't notice the plug he put into the supply line. Same concerns as yours. I would go with the blockage idea. I noticed that the fluid would not flow in the res. when it was running.
Keith Browning
Oddly, the fluid is moving in the res but not like a flow but rather a bubbly kind of action but without the air. The collapsed line is that has my attention.
cbriggs
Not sure on an 08, but the 05 style has a filter screen in the reservoir. I have seen them get restricted and make pump do weird things, including make bubbles in the reservoir.
Keith Browning
I had taken the reservoir out and found nothing major in it that could cause a restriction. There is no mention of a filter screen in the WSM but I suspect there may be one. After checking the hose for damage I stuck my thumb on the hose with the engine running and got some good suction. That hose was in good condition so it, was not the issue. After washing out the bottle I reinstalled it and I then had power assist and the hose was not collapsing. However the pump was making a of buzzing. The customer declined the repair and took the truck. Where to I have no idea.
