Keith Browning
I attached the letter to this post for those who cant access or missed it. It looks like major changes to the subscription process and payments. Also, they removed the VCM subscription and made the software require a key... which needs to be paid for. Possibly to combat the use of "copy cat" VCMs. Heard something along these lines earlier this year.

Keith Browning
"A better idea brought to you by the people at Ford Motor Company." Now watch, it will be easier and cheaper for the Chinese to pirate the IDS software than the VCM's.

Now watch, it will be easier and cheaper for the Chinese to pirate the IDS software than the VCM's. It's the license key that needs to be pirated, once that is done you are golden. However, if Ford is smart they would have used technology adapted by the big MMORPG companies to generate and monitor the license keys. Has anyone here tried hacking online games lately, not so easily done, and it's not long before you are found out if you do manage to get in for free. joshbuys
The beginning of the end of the VCM?!?
lmorris
The beginning of the end of the VCM?!? You still need something to link the PC to the vehicle. I haven't heard of anything new.
Bruce Amacker
My guess is they'll go with a J2534 cable like other companies are doing, I hope they keep the IDS software format as it is refined so well. When IH changed softwares a few years ago to ServiceMaxx they did not (and apparently are not gonna) pick up a lot of the features that Saint and MD had. Man, I pray FMC doesn't make that mistake.
