Keith Browning
Is this a 6.4L FQR with the inside of the engine painted? Nope. It's a 2008 F-350 6.4L that is a little sludged up. Has a blown turbo, well lubricated CAT/DPF and a light popping sound from the intake when cold. It's got 46,000 miles and over 2700 engine hours. The amazing part is that the truck is owned by a service station owner.
Brad Clayton
A couple of cases of this stuff and it will be good as new.
cbriggs
Just a thought, but it looks like coolant is in the oil. The last 6.4 I had with a cavitated front cover looked alot like that inside.
Keith Browning
Chris I have heard of this too but the coolant level was good. Perhaps pulling the water pump off and having a peek anyway is in order just to be sure. The engine hours has me more concerned though. Keith Browning
I took the pump off and the cover is in perfect condition.
lmorris
The hours put it at 89,000 miles roughly. Last engine I did that looked like that had just over double the hours it should have. Ford never asked for hours on that one and we had all the records so it went through. Thats a crap load of idling time. I assume you told him to double up on his services. Keith Browning
He was advised. He also declined the repair.
