Matt Saunoras
One of the trucks I just put coolers in came back today, cust says coolant is low and oil looks milky. Well the coolant isn't low and it's not losing pressure anywhere, it's on the min line as per the added sticker. So I pull the oil dipstick and immediately I notice something isn't right with the oil. It's not a typical smell of coolant or fuel. The oil is at a normal level but it reeks I can't put my finger on it, so I pull it in and drain about a quart out of the pan. The smell is familar but not enough that I can pinpoint what might be in the crankcase. It's a smell comparable to gear oil, but if you smell gear oil then smell this oil it's not the same. This oil only has 120 miles on it since the truck left and if I recall correctly the truck had some pretty bad stiction issues. About half of the injectors never clicked on the self test. Now, suprisingly, it's running like a top. Now I know what 120 mile oil should look like and this almost appears to have a dark green tint to it. My question is has anyone ever smelled hotshot's secret oil additive? I hear it's dark green in color and it has a distinct smell but I'm not sure the customer would have complained about the oil condition if he knew an additive was in it. I guess it's possible one of the drivers added something to the crankcase. If i can verify it's an additive that's supposed to be there I'd be happy, otherwise it's getting another oil change
