GregH
My shop graciously gave me one of their two obsolete WDS's. I'll take it to my classroom and it'll be more of a museum piece than a diagnostic tool. I'd like to have it as functional as possible, though. Right now it'll come on, boot in windows 98, and start the WDS software, then locks up. I've got all the software disks, I think, and most of the cables. I'm working through restoring the image from the red disk, but my two black disks have some pretty severe scratches on them. Anyone have a spare set of black disks I can have a copy of? I'll pay for the disks, shipping, and your time to copy them... Thanks!
Bruce Amacker
Try copying your scratched discs using a computer drive to a new blank disc. Sometimes this will copy the good stuff and not the bad..... Good Luck!
Mbl35
I miss them. No vmm needed. Just a pain to have to calibrate the screan all the time.
DieselD
They where a decent setup for what it was. Just very problematic and sloooooow. I remember putting my fist through the screen of one once....true story
Bruce Amacker
IIRC, upgrading the RAM from its base level (24ish to 48 or 128m or something?) did wonders for how the machine worked. I bet you could buy RAM for less than a candy bar....
Matt Saunoras
I remember putting my fist through the screen of one once....true story I saw a guy do that once when I worked for lincoln. I was also the key witness that the punched wds accidentally fell off the stand.
