Matt Saunoras
Got the short block bolted in today, headgaskets showed up too. Working on putting in the exhaust valves now. Very straight forward install, there's a 2009 6.7 tool kit with everything you need except the pivot bar. I found a bar in a 84 or 85 probe tool kit that works great. There are way more cracked exhaust valves than I initially saw. This shortblock wouldn't have made it out of warranty.
YukonTyler
'86 VW van .... it was the best of times, it was the worst of times. once i tracked down the service info i quickly found that whomever was in here last messed up the firing order. i'm very happy to not have to get into it any deeper than that. lmorris
Not in my bay yet, but I did go out to the parking lot to go look at it. 2011 F350, 6.7L with an engine knock complaint. 173,000 KM with an aftermarket warranty. EGR cooler bypassed, exhaust deleted, non-ford air box, oil way overfull and no sign of a tuner. Customer bought it 2 weeks ago from the new Hyundai dealer down the road. I haven't started it yet, and won't until I can verify the presense of a tuner or they give me the stock pieces to put back in. Let the fun begin. Update: Just got a call from the selling dealership. They removed the tuner, but left the modifications intact, before giving the customer the truck because they didn't want it to interfere with his warranty. They are going to bring us the tuner to install so we can start it to see what is going on. Will update later. All they did was take the thing off the dash so we wouldn't see it. Started the truck and it sounds like it has a bent connecting rod and something is bouncing off the crankshaft. Waiting for ok from warranty company to tear into it. So I got the OK to teardown and inspect. Get this, the Global warranty only covers $3000.00 of the repair. Customer has only had the truck for 2 weeks. Since I am pretty sure there are no short blocks available yet for a 6.7L, but I could be wrong, parts is checking, I doubt $3000.00 will come even close to fixing this one. I hope it gets towed out of here. As much as I would love to do a retail teardown on this engine, we may end up with no-one paying for it in a while. Matt Saunoras
6.0 Ambulance towed in blowing coolant out of the degas. This is the one that needs a main eng harness that I did a nearly impossible wiring repair on 5 months ago. So if it needs coolers I'll definitely quote a harness too. Finished up another set of coolers on a truck, blow it down the road and find out it needs an injector too.

I need to tear down the old one to show Global warranty what they are so graciously paying $3000.00 for..... The selling dealer is covering the rest. DieselD
I remember having the yank those engines out of the ambos! I do not miss that crap one bit!!! I have work piling up on me which seems to be the norm.... 2009 F350 utility bed I am building into a tire service truck(adding a gas powered compressor, work lights, hose reels etc...) New 2013 freightliner "PDI" outfitting for active service 2006 Chevy C5500 outfitted with a crane that needs lift cylinders on the boom and liftgate replaced 2011 6.7 with the wastegate KOEO noise and lack of DEF filling..... 2007 Sterling with a CAT with a boost leak under load, needs brakes as well Oh and a total shop moving project! Who wants to come work for me??
Matt Saunoras
Sold 2 heads, total engine reseal, oil cooler, STC fitting, and a main engine harness on this thing. Both heads were cracked. #4 and #5 cylinders. 5 was really bad. Thanks to the 6.0 tips thread I was able to bench pressure check through the fuel rail and fill the water jackets up with soapy water. Fredsvt
Had in my bay, but customer is going to try and get it warrantied at 99k: 2009 6.4, check engine light and no power. Codes for 1-3 EGT, and "thermal event" in exhaust, cyl 7 misfire, amongst a few others. NO coolant, added 4 gallons mixed to it. Rad leaking. Horizontal EGR cooler covered with coolant crust, liquid coolant appearing at forward gasket point, could be external leak from feed pipe though. Front cover/front seal oil leak. Trans puking black fluid from vent. Front brakes on steel, rotors just touched. Belts squealing on start and fuzzy looking. Off it went. Or if it turned into a shytstorm. Operator of truck has generic code scanner and would repeatedly clear the codes to keep it having power, until it shut down and had to be towed. He did this on another sister truck with leaking rad, it would derate, he'd clear codes and kept going until engine grenaded on highway. Went to Ford, expecting warranty, DENIED, they had to pay it....
lmorris
2009 F350. Originally it came in with overfull crankcase codes. Was not overfull. Code would only set on decel after a heavy acceleration. Bit of history on this one. Enhanced short block and HPFP done previously. Other diesel tech gets it first. Instructed to check for debris in fuel, which was found. Various communications with hotline resulted in entire fuel system being replaced. Then the help guy comes out and we perform the cmp/ckp wave forms, he says they are a little iffy but nothing to worry about. We start looking again. Found contamination in the system again and fuel system gets another replacement plus the LPFP this time. Again code returns under same conditions. Debris check is good this time. Instructed to perform waveform check again and to email capture to engineers. Next day we get instructed to replace the engine. That is where I come in. If I can get the waveform of the other computer I will post it here.
Aaron
Was outfitting a 2013 GT500 with Wilwood brakes all the way around, Super Snake cooling system upgrade, shifter, rear end ratio swap, and finishing up the engine install readying it for the 3.6 Kenne Bell install. That being said, after mounting the LF rotor after it's assembly and safety wire, installing the caliper, I looked in behind the rotor where the caliper mount bracket is, to see what shims I had installed between the bracket and the spindle, and when I was extracting my melon from the wheel opening, I touched the back of my head on the fender and it hit just the right spot, and prompted an immediate flinching reaction, where I immediately slammed my head forward into the caliper. Now there's a real nice lump on my forehead, and it hurts real bad. I have applied the necessary amount of Dr. Jack Daniel's remedy number 7, and I am just waiting for it to begin working. I have two superchargers to install tomorrow and Friday, and a 5.0 coyote supercharger kit to install Monday.
Matt Saunoras
Finished my ambulance finally, what a job. There's 2 6.0 f-series outside not sure what's going on with either one. I've been out of touch with reality for a week.

Matt Saunoras
Ended up putting a #5 injector in that DAMN ambulance today, SPW. I put all 8 in 5 months ago. Today it decided it didn't want to work any longer. No idea what happened but it was a soft click on the self test. 3 F-series 6.0s outside. Took a quick look at all 3 tonight. First one I need to SPW a #7 injector on. Second one needs a ficm, 8 injectors, rad and it has a hot no start problem, third one needs coolers for sure maybe headgaskets. Matt Saunoras
Haha I know. I never even got to verify the concern, the truck was missing so badly under load I had to turn around on the roadtest and come back. Even put in my tester ficm with the good calibration and couldn't save those injectors. The truck did run rough (not a miss) after I pulled it in. I stabbed the throttle a couple times in park and it stalled out. Found the IPR screen punched through so I figured that was it. Either way it runs great now. 8 injectors, FICM, IPR, standpipes/rail plugs, radiator, t-stat, blue spring FPR and some new cac boots did the trick.
