Very odd EGR cooler leak had me fooled

A few weeks ago I had one in with 158000 kms for a coolant leak. Found the coolant return to intake o-ring on the EGR cooler leaking. As a precaution I road tested it to make sure the EGR cooler had not blown and that the oil cooler was working properly. Found no issues with either so I ripped off the intake and resealed everything. 3000 km later it comes back in with same leak. Turns out the EGR cooler is now leaking, but instead of blowing the coolant out the tailpipe it was blowing it out past the exhaust port gasket at the intake. Turns out there was some slight imperfections in on the intake and the metal gasket couldn't seal properly. Even though there was no exhaust leak. Very odd and had me baffled and running in circles trying to pinpoint it.
