Keith Browning
Is it that bad now? I had to get prior approval for one as related damage past 3/36... Pictures too!

Steve Mutter
I just checked today on the fsa and it looks like there is going to be a recall on the 6.7 cooling systems. At this time there was no other info we will have to wait and see.

DieselD
Don't you think ford would have learned how to build a radiator by now? As if the 6.4 endless radiator failures was bad enough

As if the 6.4 endless radiator failures was bad enough Personally, I prefer doing a rad on a 6.7L over that of a 6.4L any day!!! More $$$ for me. DieselD
yeah the 6.7 radiators pay nice fat time thats for sure. But with anything time is ticking until ford figures out the short cut or recalls it and drops the time to barely enough to cover the repair

lmorris
So what's your secret Mike? Personally I can have a 6.4L rad done in just under 1 1/2 hours. Have done 2 6.7L rads and both took me over 2 1/2 hours.

Have done 2 6.7L rads and both took me over 2 1/2 hours.Really??? I can barely break even on a 6.4L rad, but on a 6.7L rad all you do is remove the grill and headlight assemblies and everything is easily accessible. I also like the "quick release" rad hoses WAAYYYYY more than the cheesy ones on the 6.4L which also helps speeds things up considerably. I'll tell you what Leon. You give me your secret on a 6.4L rad, and I'll give you mine on a 6.7L one if I haven't already. How's that?
joshbuys
1 hour tops for a 6.4L rad, I'll do them all day I once did 4 in an afternoon....had 'em all lined up in my stall and the stall next to me I've never done one on a 6.7L though, we'll see with this campaign, I'm sure I'll see a few.... Brad Clayton
Biggest time consumer on my end is filling the damn things.
Keith Browning
Biggest time consumer on my end is filling the damn things. Using the coolant airlift tool to fill the system works best and that is how Ford recommends filling the 6.4L to eliminate air pockets. I find that my air lift almost perfectly pulls the correct amount of coolant into the system and requires very little adjustment. No more need to get the engine to operating temp and then a cool down to a adjust the final level. Though I prefer to verify the level cold if at all possible. Evacuate the A/C while removing stuff, Leave the shroud halves connected and leave everything attached to the shroud. Lift the shroud up while pulling the rad forward then remove the rad. Some guys don't even take the A/C condenser off, but I do. Have the A/C machine doing its job while it all goes back together.
Brad Clayton
Gosh dangit, that's genius. Can't wait for another rad to blow out so I can try it that way.
Matt Saunoras
I don't evac the A/C on 6.4s. I have been on 6.7s though. both take me the same amount of time, I'm not as fast as you guys though, usually 2 1/2hr for both, I haven't done nearly as many. Aaron
I was doing 6.4 rads in under an hour when I was doing lots of them Watched a guy at the Indy shop I was at take a whole 12 hour shift to change one.
cheezit
the first one I did in a day and cryed. now down to the same 1.5 to do them. have not had to do any 6.7 yet, but I can say doing a water pump is a pain.

Water pumps get easier after you do a couple... they just piss you off when you look at them and think about how stupid the design is in that it reaches across the entire front engine cover. Like they couldn't cast the coolant passage into the front cover and have a small pump like all of the other recent Ford engines?
Matt Saunoras
you mean international engines?
