Bruce Amacker
Ford put on a small show at a dealer touting their updated parts to promote parts sales. Does anyone know about slotted spools on 6.0 injectors to stop stiction problems, or plasma sprayed cylinder walls on their (done by Cat) reman engines? Supposedly these are brand new revisions to their parts.
jimmy57
The slot in the injector spool stop showed up in a motorcraft short clip I saw but the plasma sprayed cylinder walls is news. Now for the cynical part: is the plasma spray a longevity/quality move or something done to fix scored blocks due to core shortage?
Bruce Amacker
My buddy says they're using the same process on late Mustang V8 blocks- something about plasma sprayed aluminum the last couple of years. Anybody know the details?
Fredsvt
http://flame-spray.com/index.php?option=...7&Itemid=50 Does this help?
Buddy_M
That process sounds just like the Nikasil plating done in the import Yamaha/Suzuki/etc motorcycle engines and other powersports equipment with aluminum blocks.
blown99
International was talking about the grooved spools several years ago. The rep stated it was too expensive to do and that they would not be going forward with it.
