Matt Saunoras
Yeah the right side needs shimmed but that will never happen. If I don't start seeing some progress being made with a new building I'm going to have to get out. I say it all the time and I'd rather not leave but I get closer every day...I really can't take much more of this.
Aaron
I work in a fleet garage now, maintaining and repairing garbage/recycling collection trucks. Good pace, nice bunch of guys, all you can eat overtime. Oh yeah, no flat rate either. Lol. Pension, benefits, all that stuff.
Jim Warman
I dunno, Mat... some days I think the only reason I go to work is because I want to see what happens next
Matt Saunoras
I hate to admit it but I had an F-250 all the way up again. it that was so weighted down the rack wouldn't pick it up alone. A bumper jack, several 4' long 6x6s and 2 pole stands later it was up in the air and on the locks. It was a 2012 with an output shaft seal leaking on the trans. WSM has you fully disassembling the trans but that's not necessary as I found out. Scary yes but I haven't given up. They are building a new shop, they're shooting for spring to have it done. 11 racks and a few flat stalls. 4 are supposed to be truck racks. Brad Clayton
Man this post brings back memories of heavy trucks on asymmetric lifts at my old shop. We used many a bumper jack/deadman stands to help the lift when a truck was "heavy".

Sounds like the new shop should be a good deal.... unless you wind up looking like Wile E Coyote in an "after" pic. FWIW, even fairly recently installed hoists are a disaster looking for a victim if they aren't maintained properly - and I see precious little of that ANYWHERE. On the flip side - none of us goes to work thinking "I hope I get hurt real bad or even dead today". But if we continue to do things that aren't as safe as they could be, we might soon find out about "rolling the dice". After all, accidents are made from tempting fate, playing the odds and taking chances. We may feel manly about our deeds of derring-do - sadly, our widows and orphans would wish that we had realized that "unsafe" applies just as much to us as to the guy beside us. This is the last I'll remark on this manner of stupidity other than to say that I am sincerely worried that people that should be bound by logic would just forge ahead. Lifting that F250 must have been preceded by stating "Hey guys, watch this" because that is what generates many visits to the emergency room. Take care, Matt - you sound like a nice guy even if you are trying to make sure your days are numbered. And Kieth busts my chops because a guy that smoked for almost 50 years is risking death by sanding without a mask.... I don't recall the last time anyone was crushed by a piece of 220 grit. Keith Browning
And Kieth busts my chops because a guy that smoked for almost 50 years is risking death by sanding without a mask.... I don't recall the last time anyone was crushed by a piece of 220 grit. And my Dad smoked for 30+... quit maybe 20 years before he passed. We watched him suffocate to death after 3 bouts with a respiratory infection brought on by exposure to dust and mold, each time severely weakening is body. What got him? The emphysema or the mold and dust? Does it matter? Be careful Jim, God might accidentally nudge a Super Duty off your hoist... oh the irony if it were to happen. Please note that I do not wish for that to happen of course. Wear a fucking mask Mr. Safety! You are taunting me arent you. I would bust Matt's chops about continuing to use an un-safe vehicle hoist but you are doing an awesome job!
