Just got back from a drive... my best friend just came home with his new car. I'd had a couple of drinks so there was no way I was going to get too frisky with this thing though I will admit to touching mumbletymumblety kilometers per hour.

There's not enough clicks on this thing to allow full boost yet... but I'm sure my friend will take care of that quite shortly.

It is more fun to drive than either the Vette or the Viper... but that might be more because it sports a blue oval than any other reason.

  • 2 weeks later...

A guy here has an 09 gt500, with some mods done. It runs 720hp at the crank, man is it wicked to drive. He goes thru 2 sets of rear tires per year.

That would perfectly good sense, since the Mustang GT I just did an engine replace on already had more than 50% of its rear tire tread worn down at only 16,000 kms. I can't even begin to imagine what a much more powerful 5.8L GT-500 will do to the rear tires under the command of a pilot with a very heavy right foot.

Tire prices go up by the day it seems. I put smaller tires on my F350 cause I got sick of paying for 35" tire on a daily driver/tow rig. Then my dumb ass goes buys a raptor that sits on $300ea tires.

I wish I was lucky enough to get behind the wheel of a gt500, or maybe not cause keeping your foot off the floor would be hard!

Think yours tires are expensive? just be glad you dont need some of these puppy's at almost 50k each.

Almost $900 for a set of Michelins for the SooperCroo - nothin' special 16 inchers.

This Shelby has some real skookum Goodyears - sticky as snot on flannel, more like a cheater slick than something DOT loves. I think they have a W or Y speed rating and I would guess buying a set would take a fair chunk of your lunch money.

19s on the front and 20s on the back, not much you'll do to rotate them.

Exotic cars.... this is what single guys do instead of trying to build brownie points.

The original Goodyears on my Lightning are going for $317 ea on tire rack, I bought 2 nitto nt555 tires for the rear a few years ago, they were $245 ea at the time.

Ouch.

I could imagine if Michelin made that size, I'd probably have a heart attack at that price.

If you think that's bad, I've had to put two tires on my wife's BMW 335I this year due to nails. They are always too close to the sidewall and are run flats so I don't bother to try to patch them. 19"'s in the rear, 18"'s in the front. Michelin Pilot ZR tires, W speed rating, run flats. My cost is $490 for one rear tire, $340 for one front tire.
