Glow Plug light

This is on my own 2002 f350 with a 7.3l. Every once in a blue moon after a warm start up, the glow plug light does not go off. I key off and restart and the light stays off. What should I check for? Should I even worry about it? Of course when it happens I don't have a meter to check the glow plug solenoid to see if it is sticking (although I don't think it is as it is only a few months old, starts with no smoke).

The wait to start lamp is controlled by the PCM independently of the GPR... If the lamp is staying on, you have a concern with the cluster, wiring or PCM. I've found one truck with an open between the PCM and the bulkhead connector...

In addition to that I found a TSB that applies to your truck for your exact concern. TSB

03-4-5. The bulletin states to replace the instrument cluster. I know that they system and indicator works just like the Internationals you work on but I don't know how your clusters work. Ford Instrument cluster are a multifunction module that is not serviceable. You can order an exchange through a dealer but you will have to lay the vehicle up because the mileage is programmed before the cluster is sent to the dealer.
