mrbudge
I have been blessed with Azure Dynamics Balance Hybrid that won't start. Those of you who don't know what that is should count yourself lucky. It appears that it needs a Ford PCM (it has more than one pcm), which by itself is not a problem. However, the Ford pcm will have an aftermarket program in it from Azure to allow it to work with the rest of the systems on the truck. I have a copy of the software, but I have no info on how to install it to the Ford PCM. Have any of you had any experience with aftermarket programmers that will allow you to install your own software. Ford tech hotline basically wants nothing to do with this thing. Azure has gone bankrupt so they are not offering any support for their products. Any input is greatly appreciated.
lmorris
Most programmers use micro SD cards for program storage. Down side to your issue is you also need the program that tells the programmer to install the file into the PCM. Edge and H&S have excellent customer support and may offer some guidance. Just had another though, most custom speed shops with dyno's have the ability to custom tune for engine mods. They may have the required tuner you need to reflash the PCM. Alex Bruene
I know a former Azure Dynamics field service manager. I've sent him an e-mail to see if he has any sources, or is willing to offer up some assistance. Check your inbox.
wyldman
Dave Alex contacted me and advised me of your situation. I used to be your regional service manager for Azure. There is only one way to get the software into the PCM, and that will require shipping me the PCM for reprogramming. After I'm done with it, it should be plug and play, you will only need to mate it to the cluster. I'll try and give you a call later today. Aaron
what chassis is it? Just curious.. is it like a purolator van or something? Google search is kind of cryptic. I wouldn't mind learning a little more or seeing some pics of the hybrid system if it's not too much trouble. Thanks in advance if you get the time to snap a couple pics. Alex Bruene
www.azdtec.com is still running. You can eff around there and learn some stuff about the system.
mrbudge
It is an E450 with an aluminum Utilimaster body on it. AZDTEC has good info about them, as well as the Transit Connect Electric. Canada Post owns this one, Purolator has some as well. They are driving this one back out to Vancouver as soon as I coax it back to life, can you imagine driving one of these things through the mountains in the winter? mrbudge
Chris, it is great to hear from you. I will order the PCM today, and have it here tomorrow. Do you want me to PMI in the Ford software before sending it out?
DieselD
I had to work on one of these things once..... I wanted to stab myself in the eye with a rusty screwdriver before it was said and done. IIRC it was kinda a cluster fuck to get support on the thing and we had field service guys out every other day helping us toss parts at it trying to get it fixed. mrbudge
When they were driving them out from Ontario to Vancouver this summer they usually had to stop for a visit here. If I go to Kicking Horse this Christmas I will drive by your shop to see if it is parked there. If it is I won't be stopping.
Alex Bruene
Have you guys figured out a solution?
mrbudge
I have a recieved a new PCM which actually communicates with IDS when I plugged it in, so I PMI'd it, and shipped it to Chris. He is going to put the Azure flash in it and send it back.
