Keith Browning
Nov 28 2012 5375 -Remanufactured 3 Valve 4.6L and 5.4L V8 Engine Camshaft Replacement During remanufacturing three valve V-8 engines have cam bearings installed and use undersized camshafts. If camshaft replacement is required on a remanufactured 3V engines, cylinder head replacement is necessary. I guess they needed to do something with all of those failed engines and cylinder heads. It seems like in the last year we have seen a sharp increase in V-8 gas engine failures. Oil starvation due to oil being sucked up through the PCV. On all the one's we have seen the cams were wiped out. I just finished one in a bus that actually had one cam seized in the head.
jimmy57
Will, "In the remanufacturing process some engines with warped cylinder heads are re-assembled with several extra applications of 'Copper-Kote' gasket sealant. If cylinder head removal is required in later service you will have to do it correctly and replace cylinder head" show up soon?
