Torqued_Up
Still an issue? I have a dually in - 2005 with the old drivelin shudder from a stop. Now I have tried the TSB for shimming the hanger bearing up or down but that only changed WHEN the vibration would occur. (in my opinion) I have fixed these with a new driveshaft or by reducing the looseness of the hanger bearing bushing. Anybody still seeing this problem and what are you doing to fix it, AND I MEAN FIX IT. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hammer2.gif
msta999
Have you try'd the blue silicone grease on the shaft splines? Might be worth a try.
Torqued_Up
You mean the blue Teflon grease? yes but that is for sticking splines which give you a thump on take off from a stop. I f I remember correctly I think we put a shaft in it. Personally I think it's the hanger bearings
msta999
Yes, Thats what I ment. The last drive line problem I had felt like the back tires were going over little bumps on take off. Use the drive line angle tool, ended up finding out the truck had the wrong hanger bearing bracket from the factory. installed the longer one (about 3 inches lower) and that took care of it. I try'd the shims first, went up to 2 inches and it lessened the problem, then ordered the other bracket for the carrier bearing. I have read on the Tech to Tech of the "Teflon" grease getting rid of shudder on some vehicles, but I have only experienced the double clunk. Keith Browning
I have the same experience with the grease and the thump from a stop but it's never cured the shudder for me. How did you determine that the incorrect hanger bearing bracket was in the truck? TSB? Hot Line?
msta999
The hot line told me about the shims, After I installed them, the shutter was less but still there, inwhich case the hot line said to use the larger hanger bracket, which took care of it. In the begining I used a driveline angle tool to verify it was the drive line.
