fordboy1987
Good morning all-Iv'e got a 2012 F350 with a turbo flutter noise. It occurs at 1500 rpm @50 mph uphill.Pids on road test show normal and Im not seeing any wastgate commanded when it happens. It reminds me of the classis gas powered egr "trailer hitching"-the whole truck shakes.I followed tsb #11-12-14.Replaced the turbo and, yes,it still does it. WTF? Anyone had this concern? Professor Brad (Clayton) are you out there?
Keith Browning
Is the truck in regen when this occurs?
fordboy1987
Not according to the pid. And I forgot to add-no codes.
fordboy1987
Ok guys. I sent a message to the hotline along with PCM,TCM,NOX and GPCM filenames and part numbers. They have responded back that the PCM calibration is for a 2011 Superduty which means the PCM has been reflashed by someone other than Ford and that the PCM may not be able to be reflashed with the correct calibration.Oh boy. This ought to be fun! I'll keep you guys updated as it gets better.

Aaron
What's your CLRDIST pid?
mchan68
Does the prefix of the calibration level begin with BC3A or CC3A?
fordboy1987
Im not sure about the cal number but the concern was caused by the tuner. The customer said he had the "tune" installed on a trial basis and decided he didnt want it. Hes going to try and get his money back from them. What a dumbass. One other issue the "tune" caused-would not accell or downshift after 80 mph. I initially thought the customer had a "my key" programmed and that I was using it, but after replacing the PCM and test driving the truck, I found it was just as fast as it should be. Matt Saunoras
Alright, drove an 11 home that's doing the same thing as TSB 11-12-14 outlines, nobody else could get it to do it all day but as soon as I drive it I captured 4 events with IDS. So I go hunting for the turbo (cha-ching) TSB which has been superceded by a calibration update (damn). I've previously done the reprogram recall for this truck but I guess there's an update for the newest TSB. Here's the kicker, I vaguely recall my service manager telling me this customer "returns his truck to stock" before it comes in for service. Related? Don't know yet. Matt Saunoras
Reprogram seemed to fix it. Had to put in as built because the pcm part number wasn't recognized.
lmorris
I have 2 trucks doing this. One is a 2011 with a tuner and aftermarket intake, he bought the truck this way and doesn't have the tuner. The other is a stock 2013. The guy that owns the 2011 is willing to get a stock intake system and put the PCM back to stock if it is a PCM issue. The 2013 has me stumped because the reprogram TSB does not apply to 2013 MY's and his is at the latest calibration anyways. Any thoughts? Matt Saunoras
I have only seen one truck do this since my last post but the guy wasn't complaining about it. It was a 2011 pickup, probably has close to 40k miles on it by now.
Chad_Kelsoe
I've had 2 2013 models doing it. You can watch data logger when it happens the PCM is pulsing the EGR valve between 15-30% very rapidly and causing EBP to change. I contacted hotline and asked them about a calibration update. They informed me that the 13 models have the latest calibration already, but they have seen EGR valves and restricted Coolers causing the issue. They instructed me to verify the EGR cooler wasn't restricted, if it wasn't to install a new valve. So I verified the cooler was good and stuck a new valve on it and reset the EGR adaptive in the PCM. Concern went away for a few days, then came back. I reset the EGR adaptive again and it set a P0402 the next day. Customer hasn't dropped it back off yet, hopefully I can check into Monday. lmorris
The 2011 I had IDS set up to record and the only PID that went off was MAF. No EP or MAP changes. EGR and VGT where steady as well.
