Fuse 74 "open" revisited

Did a HPFP gasket yesterday that didn't have the protective convolute on the wiring harness. Last time I did one of these was way back in 2007. I figured they would have all been weeded out and updated by now. The job went pretty smooth even in the new shop I am working at, which has the worst equipment I have ever seen.

Last one that I did had the covulate on the wires, no blue straps, was a factory job, and the wires still rubbed through because the convulate was in the wrong place and not protecting the wires......

Just finished pulling one apart a few minutes ago for this concern, although the fuse wasn't blown on mine, just the ground side rubbed through and was shorting - set a P0003 and P0088. No convoluted tubing on mine, AND IT NEVER HAD A VENTURI "T" PUT ON IT, and the radiator is still not leaking - 67k miles on the clock.

Did one this past week for a P0003 hard fault. No popped fuse but it was lacking power. The gasket had been replaced before when the shortblock was replaced. It had the covering on the wires but it wasn't put on where the wire rubs.

There is actually another updated gasket that has the convolute covering the entire wiring now. Before it was just on about half the wiring which would still cause the wire to rub if it wasn't placed properly during installation.

Can you guys fill me in on where the wire cover needs to be?? Does the new harness have it completely fixed? Any pointers to watch for on the routing? Obviously this is my first hpfp issue. I have one now with a 0003 n a 0091 and pops #74. The kicker is this was a 6007 full dress that just exited warranty. I figured an engine they was assembled in 2012,, should've been safe from this. Guess not

I've had 2 remans and one another shop did a HPP that had the the convolute swell up which made it shorter and exsposed the wires and rubbed through on the pump housing. Now I zip tie the convolute on each end to keep it in place.

Yes the latest revision has some tough stuff on there and it is actually longer than the length of wiring it is covering so it acts like a spring keeping it tucked into the plastic of the gasket at each end. I no longer tie the protective convolute.

I recently had a newly installed gasket fail - I replaced the pump a year prior and it got a revised gasket of course. I remember there being something wrong with the convolute but  my memory is fuzzy. Obviously it had moved and exposed the wire as mentioned. It drives you nuts when the "fix" needs a fix!

I forgot to update here,, but got mine wrapped up. It was an 08 with a 6007 installed two years ago. There was no protection at all on the wiring and it was shorted out. Got it done and hopefully it stays together. I figured that engine would have had an updated harness by the age. But no dice.
