Keith Browning
I finally had to pull and disassemble a Torqshift-6. Man, everything is big and heavy in that sucker! I think I made a mistake by deciding not to mount the unit in my engine stand but it will likely end up there after I clean the case and go to reassemble. If I had pre-read the WSM instead of reading as I went I probably would not have slapped it on the bench but what a fucking circus though: pull it out with a trans jack... lift it off with an engine hoist then mount it onto a stand. Maybe on the second one I'll have my act together.
Brad Clayton
Yeah she's all there for sure. They want you to use the engine hoist to remove the torque converter. That bad boy weighs a metric "shit" ton.
Keith Browning
Yeah. I pulled the convereter, the pump and the forward/overdrive clutch assembly by hand on the bench. Assembly will be nerly impossible without a hoist and engine stand. These assemblies are just way to big and heavy. I think the risk of damaging something and being injured his high id you don't. Fortunately the tool kits have hoist adapters.
lmorris
We bolt 4 pieces of angle iron to the back end once the tcase is removed and stand it up. Makes getting the engine crane in there real nice. No stand needed.
