Recommendations for hotel in St Louis

I have just been signed up for 6.7 class in St Louis June 4th through the 6th, but it's up for me to find my hotel. I'll likely come up the day before so I can rest(I'm in north Alabama and looks to be a 6 hour drive). My wife will be coming with me also( the 4th is our anniversary), so I'm looking for a decent hotel in a decent part of town. Any suggestions?

I go to St. Louis regularly, just did 2 weeks there last month. I stay at the Hampton Inn on Oakland by the park 'cause it's close to my stuff. Do you want to be near "stuff" or near your class? I've stayed at the Hampton Inn down by the Arch, too, and I'd recommend that area. Lots to do by the waterfront, there's a nice restored historical district with outdoor seating at the restaurants, don't miss the Arch (sunset might be nice) and the Bud brewery, where the stables are as nice as a lot of churches. Like baseball?

Thanks for the suggestions Bruce. I've looked at Mapquest and they both seem to be the same distance either way to the class. My main concern is somewhere safe to stay as my wife will likey be staying at the hotel while I'm in class. By the looks of it, we'll probably stay at the one close to the Arch. And while I don't follow baseball, I wouldn't mind going and seeing a game.

Staying near the Arch is a great idea, she'll have plenty to do while you're in class. Cards are in town vs. DBacks, Busch Stadium is very close, probably walking distance, only a few years old, even if you're not a BB fan I think you'd like it. STL is a great sports town, voted the best baseball venue by players a few years back. The zoo also gets rave reviews if that's up your alley.

Well I checked and the Hampton Inn by the Arch has no rooms those days that I'm going. Thanks for all the suggestions Bruce. We enjoy watching her younger brother play baseball, so I think we're gonna try to go see a ball game.

  • 2 weeks later...

It has a refrigerator, microwave, stove, cabinets and dishes included. Theres a kitchen sink to wash everything. They didnt clean the room every day (might be part of the "extended stay" thing, you do it yourself). It was in an industrial area. I walked to McDonalds twice. 3125 rider trail south, earth city, mo. 63045
